Question about Maytag HAV2557 Top Load Washer
Hi eileen.Like marka19 said the pressure switch may be the problem but i would also suggest that there is a thin tube running from the side of the bowl to the pressure switch wich can develop a tiny air leak causing the machine to fill past the low level. Now i dont know if the water leaking is from the bowl actually overflowing with water or you have a more sinister problem with a centre tub seal.

The problem is the pressure switch has failed. These are usually inexpensive and are very easy to replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the inspection and replacement of this part. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.
