This dishwasher, was installed without being secured,so it slides in and out, with little or no effort. The instructions say to install screws in the top and bottom, or buy side mounts. My question is : How...

Need more info ! hard to answer w/o a photo or even knowing you cabnet or countertop material . If you have a bit of a recess,or can create one, you may be able to go to most any home improvement store and buy common corner or "L" shaped small metal brackets. Very common and in many sizes,Pre-drilled/holes or holes already in them, very inexpensive.

The gasket around the machine door that keeps the water in cannot be compromised by having anything across any part of it`s surface when door is open or closed. The door will hide the brackets when closed if placed properly. The trick is determining how much surface area you have to work with around the gasket/door seal , to the cabinet sides or countertop bottom .This distance determines what size "L" brackets to use.

Slide the machine to where you want it , if it goes to deep into /under the counter or towards the back wall, put pressure treated scrap lumber behind the machine legs on the floor till it`s out to where you like it and the door opens and closes easily. (proper recess) If the cabnets on each side are wood , measure from the gasket to the side of the cabnet.

Is it a tight fit or a little space between the cabnet sides and machine face behind door area? Buy "L" brackets that will screw to the cabnets , cover the gap, but wont touch the door gasket .while resting tightly on the machine face behind door area. The brakets can alway`s be trimmed with a hacksaw or cut off wheel . Get flat head self tapping screws to mount the brackets to the wood cabnet sides. If possible, you may be able to mount to the outside front of the machine, behind the machine door, but outside the door gasket area/ diameter as well . It would give you extra strength but not 100% needed.

You may need to drill small "starter" holes smaller than the self tap thread diameter that are on the screws you puchased , to start the screws in the wood , metal , plastic , ect. Before you drill or mount , do a bracket placement trial run by using tape to hold them where you think they fit/work best . Again make sure the door opens, closes and hides the brackets . The higher up from the floor (closest to the countertop) the brackets are used , the more secure the machine will be ! It won`t flop on it`s face when you open the door to load it or put weight on the opened door.

You can also bring a printed copy of this to your choice of local home improvement store. Matching brackets to the right screws , ect , ect, is easier for them If they understand what you are doing and you find the right employee.

Hope it helped you ! Good Luck !

Whats involved with changing lid switch, how do I remove the top of cabinet ?

This depends on the model. On some of the machines there are two screws located on the rear of the counsel. On the other half of the models you have to pry off the end caps on the left and right side of the counsel to locate the screws.
Once the two screws are removed, slide the counsel forward and hinge back to access under side of the counsel.
Next there are two gold clips located on both sides of the cabnet under the counsel. Pry them off with a large screw driver. Disconect the wireing plug (3) wires from the cabnet.
Tilt the cabnet forward and remove.
There are two screws holding the lid switch in place. Keep these screws for installing the new switch. Go under the cabnet and remove harnes from clips located under top.(make sure that the new switch had the same plug and the old one. If not cut the old plug off the old switch and install on the new switch)
Take your screw driver and pop the wireing plug from the top of the cabnet.
Reinstall your new switch and install everything in reverse of taking apart.

Trying to replace the lid switch

Did you unplug from the wall? Safety first.

You should be able to slide the wires off the terminals. Or you may have one that has a molded pulg that has a safety retainer clip that has to be depressed to unplug it.

Same with the switch, it should have a retaining clip that must be depressed to remove it. OR it has a screw holding the assembly on.

I have opened the lid and unscrewed the lid contact but now i cant find where the connecter is at how do i get to it?

Is this a older model whirlpool..Like a regular traditional topload. and you unscrewed the 2 screws holding the lid switch. If so, you need to unscrew the top councel. 2 screws on the back of the councel at the corners. unscrew, then flip top councel over. then youll see some clips holding the back panel to the whole cabnet. unclip the, with a flat head screwdriver and then the whole cabnet should come off..lift it a little and pull towrds you and you switch should be hanging under the cabnet somewhere if you look under the i said if this is the traditional top load washers....i would need a model number tho to see...but if it is jus put it back together how you took it apart and make sure you dont kink the clear hose when you put the cabnet back into place. Make sure the cabnet seats right on the frame at the bottom..hopefully this helps...

Lid switch problem/how to remove top to repair it

Its pretty simple...remove two screws from the top councel. They are located on each corner of the councel an the back. Youll see them. They are two Philip screws. Well, after you take those two screws out, slide the councel foward and it should be able to flip it backwards upside down. then you will see two metal clips on eack side of the washer, get a flat head screwdriver and pop them out and them pull the whole cabnet towards you. Its like basically a big shell thats coming off. makesure you disconnect the lid swich connector before you pull the cabnet towards you. youl see it. and the jus place the cabnet in an open area and go under it and replce the switch. just do the reverse to put it back together..make sure you set the cabnet properly when you put it back on the frame or else the clips will be hard to put back on and if you force it on and its not set properly you will have alot of vibration during operation. Also make sure you dont kink up the hose that goes to your pressure switch when you put the cabnet back on the frame, because the pressure switch wont sense the water pressure and will keep on filling the washer and then youll have a flooded room. so yea, i typed a lot but its simple but make sure its set right and the hose isnt kninked. hope that helps..hope this didnt put you alseep either...
