the lights have come on but windows has not opened, blue light with sun sign is on and orange battery light

  • Ekse May 14, 2010

Try restarting the computer again, tap on f8 repeatedly, select Start up normally, do not restore from hibernation image or similar, you can also try last good known configuration.

  • annemcvy May 14, 2010

this has not worked. blue light has come on but windows has not opened.

  • Ekse May 14, 2010

I'd need to know the serial from the bottom of the laptop. YSSSXXXX and similar.

I'd suggest that you turn off the wireless, then back on, make sure the led is enabled, then on the bottom right corner of your display find the red x icon of a computer and right click ,select show available networks, if you didn't get the option, then see if you got another such a icon.

the icon is basically a computer with a red x on top of it.

  • Ekse May 16, 2010

The last configuration option is only useful when the computer doesn't start up, it won't do much to your internet connection.

On the bottom left corner of the laptop, next to the touchpad, the led indicators, make sure the Radio indicator is lighted up. The icon looks like a satellite dish with waves coming out from it.

Press FN+F10 to turn it off and on, make sure the light is lit, then connect to your network.

Open the power settings , adjust advanced power settings, Change to High Performance. Change Sleep and Hibernate to Never. Shut down your laptop when not in use. It will last longer and a reboot everyday resets the computer.

Dell Inspiron going to hibernate when its not set on hibernate

The hibernate mode is one of microsoft's worst idea because it often corruped window files forcing the user to reload windows from scratch. When you were in power options did you also turn off standby? and set it to never on the list.

are you running vista? this is an ongoing issue with that operating system. my best advise would be to totally disable hibernate and sleep on your computer by changing the power settings.
  1. right click on your desktop
  2. click personalize
  3. go to screen saver
  4. on the lower part, you should have change power settings there
  5. play around with it and disable hibernate and sleep
hope it helps.

Screen dull & automatically goes into hybernate

The dim screen is going to be either the lcd or inverter. As far as constantly going into hibernation mode. go into power options and make sure where it says turn off monitor and turn off hard drive are set to never. If that doesn't work then that mean you might have a virus, trojan, etc on the computer.

Hibernate

Laptops have a ACPI power management piece of hardware on the motherboard. Sounds like this driver is corrupt or missing. Go to Acers website and look for drivers and find the one that says ACPI or even chipset drivers may have it.

Laptop Freezes

You may have a problem with standby versus hibernation mode. Go into control panel and look for your power options. You need to look for power options for standby etc. Ideally you should not allow your computer to hibernate. Some laptops just wont come out of hibernation mode successfully so preventing it is a good option. Secondly scan your laptop for viruses at the earliest opportunity

Firstly, check that the Theme was'nt a virus or a peice of malware. If you have done a system restore and it's not worked the system32 files may be corrupt,so start the system in safemode (F8 on startup)turn off System restore, run a virus and spyware scan and run a search for files with 'Incredibles' in it. Restart pc in normal mode then go to control panel>power options and look in all tabs to ensure your hibernation/off settings are correct.
