I dont think you have to hook it up to computer to re-calibrate the unit, try it without hooking it to computer

Look for Ethernet jacks. You want to hook both your computer and your daughter's laptop to the router to out ports i.e. usually on the front side. The back side of router would hook using probably another Ethernet jack to your modem.

you can hook it by usb cable or network cable, usb cable just plug to machine and to computer and load the driver, network u have to hook cable from machine to router or switch, and u have to put ip address of the machine and load the driver

Sometimes the modem-computer-router not "sync" together.
Try this.
1-hook the computer to modem. Internet yes? good.
2-hook the computer to router and check you IP. If it like 192.168.1.2,
the router's DHCP is working.
3-reset router to default setting.
turn off all and turn on modem, router, computer.

IN regards to your problem of how to hook up your receiver you have know how many components your hooking up to it and whether or not you are using standard analog(red & white), or you are using digital (optical,coaxial or HDMI). Then monitor out of receiver to TV.In regards to hooking up you computer to your stereo you need to take audio out of your computer(where speakers are currently plugged in) and plug that into an open slot on your receiver youll need an audio cable that has a headphone plug to RCA ends I picked video 3 on mine because I have nothing plugged in there and just ran monitor out of my computer to the TV.
