Beyond Micro External Hard Drive data lost

I have a beyond Micro External Hard Drive that stopped working. The lights in the front show green on the right and red on the left. It won't show up as a valid drive on my computer. I cannot find my manual (or anything that remotely could be my manual that identifies it as such) or any CDs to reinstall.

First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine.
try it in different usb ports.
Press windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc" then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it automatic install usb drivers.
then check.
Also you need to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And remove upper filter and lower filter. Then restart computer then check.

you have to be more specific for me. I am not computer savvy. I have already uninstalled one USB port and your instructions stated "then it automatic install usb drivers". NOthing happened when I installed the first one and I am really scared by uninstalling all usb drivers nothing will work to include keyboard, mouse and ANYTHING that is usb supported.

Do I have to restart for the drivers to reinstall?

Right click on my computer then click on manage and then diskmanagement then removable storage then right click on your drive letter and change to original driver letter then apply then check.

My Beyond Micr 250GB external HHD is not showing up on my PC running windows 7 and I have 2-1TB SATA HHD installed.

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use asoftech data recovery program to recover lost files.

From your description it appears that your 1TB drive is failing. You can check if there are problems with the drive using the free trial version of http://www.hdtune.com/

If it's accessible then you can try to recover your data with Recuva it's free http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Or if all else fails and you need data recovery help this a good choice for low cost and fast data recovery. All data recovery work is performed by an experienced tech remotely over the Internet from a boot cd that you download and the best part is they just ask for donations: http://FreeDataRecovery.us

Lost or misplaced power supply for Beyond Micro Micro Model BMMDU2 External hard Drive. Need info on Wattage input. Please and Thanks if you're able to hrlp.

Well, looks like Beyond Mico web site has gone to the great Beyond.

From units I have been able to find online, it looks like the power supply is between 20 and 40 watts.

The hard drive unit itself should be able to supply you with the required DC input voltage (hopefully there is some kind of label on the enclosure).

You could try one of these or something similar. It comes with 6 interchangeable heads and has adjustable DC voltage. This is just one of many available.

http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-ACD477-100-240V-Voltage-Adaptor/dp/B000Z31G3M

I cannot guarentee any of these supplied heads will fit your particular drive (same with the dc voltage). But some local retailers often have these types of adapters and you might be able to determine what size you need by looking at one.

I have used DC units similar to these in the past when I have lost a power supply.

Hopefully with a minimum of effort you can get a working solution.

Beyond Micro BMMDU2 250 GB external hard drive not working

It is highly unlikely that it will work. A circuit board from the same make and model hard drive would be a better choice, but I think a fire damaged hard drive would not work with a functioning circuit board. It depends upon how much heat the hard drive was subject to.
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives, but it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services. Depending upon how valuable your data is, I suggest you get a quote first.

Beyond micro mobile disk BMMDU2 is not recognized

The drive USB interface may be damaged; an external case is available form various vendors for about $20. The drive should pop out and into the new case. If still not recognized, then the ID track on the drive may be compromized - that can happen if the USB is unplugged while it is still writing to the drive. There is drive recovery software out there, like EASEUS that works quite well (they have a demo that you can try free) to see if that would work.

Laptop Won't Recognize External HD

You can try opening the device manager in Window XP and uninstall the external hard disk (make sure you show unplugged devices).
Then replug the drive again, and it should reinstall the drivers.

Beyond micro external hd 250gb does not get reconigze by pc

It is possible that it is just not being automatically assigned a drive letter. Go to the control panel, then Administrative Tools, then double-click Computer Management. In the left side, click Disk Management. Does your drive show up here? If it does, but there is no drive letter, find the drive at the bottom, right click, and click "Change Drive letter and paths", and choose a letter that is not alread taken.

If your drive does not show up here, make sure it is being recognized by right clicking My Computer and clicking Properties>Hardware tab>Device Manager and under Disk Drives make sure your drive is there (keep in mind it may have a strange name, probably the model number of the hard drive itself).

Good luck!
