NO OS stated, must we guess, windows, but what windows
3.1 to w10, ? name one? ( 14 versions sold)
the book even shows w2000 on some.

n410c relic Compaq (HP) (that mode you see is auto dead OS detection mode or I cant boot unstated OS)
running what? XP?

the setup page is F10, (f11 on newer boxes. vista up)
power on , hammer F10 , until the setup window pops
if the HDD is good (we test that first, or its all just a waste of time)
this failure is for only 2 causes
1: HDD bad. ?
2: OS corrupted or by actions of above.
see that,? if you can boot and run say a linux disk (knoppix best)
then the PC is ok, (hdd may be bad) so we run HDD tests.
ask how to test any HDD, not doing that now.

HP web page on this PC is still up, (Ive no idea why !)
but is up, had w98,w2k/XP when new.
see
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-evo-n410c-notebook-pc/316652/model/316654

seems it's a 2002/3 PC, 14 years old and HP didnt not delete the support pages, how lucky you, no?
10 years is the support time. XP is dead, at HP and MS for 3 long years now, time to upgrade to W7 if savvy, no?
XP is a virus magnet now and worse every day forward in time.

one manual page is 2002, there. software service.
HP bought COmpaq that same year,
guess why that matters?, (this pc does not have HP recovery mode.

that recovery mode you see is Microsoft only its not HP's
later years, HP added HPs famous built in recovery on the HDD
called (hp-tools and HP Recovery ) partitions.

when you push F10 or F11 the PC boots to a VIRTUAL CD OS installer. created by HP. (what ever you bought new is there)
sorry for the history but old books 2002 cant look forward in time.
so.... bingo. no F11. in any books there, its not there is way.

The book tells you there Under GUIDES
to use the HP media kit, clear as day.

HP does not sell that KIT now, leaving only these choices
1: find W7 disk with unused license (LOL) MS disks real.
2: buy it at MS, online, MS still sells w7 at MS, need a link?
3 : buy it at hacking sites and get infected.

I personally run the full knoppix HDD test. here (smart test first)
http://www.pcdied.com/brick-dead.html#Knoppix

i do that so i don't spend forever installing any OS on a dead or damaged HDD , endless waste of time doing so... even days wasted.

ask here, to get the real HP opinions, on legacy PC.
ask at HP ACTUAL (amazing no?)

Try formatting a new version of Windows into the system if you don't have much to loose on it but you try this
switch off the system
remove the battery
press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
insert the battery without releasing the power button or plug directly to power source if putting the battery back will be hard for you
Then release the button and switch on the system

or google "how to clear black screen"

SOURCE: how do you repair the

Hi there
This message usually pops up in the "blue screen" This Stop message indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory address to which it did not have permission to access.
This error usually occurs after the installation of a buggy device driver, system service, or BIOS. To resolve it quickly, restart your computer, and press F8 and select "Last Known Good Configuration"
this should repair the machine, although in some case the system has to be recovered

Keep us posted and Merry Christmas

SOURCE: how can i boot from cd rom compaq evo n410c

HELLO THERE
If you go into bios and change the boot sequense to the cd rom first than the c drive than you should be able to just put the cd rom in the drive and turn off the computer and restart and when it turns back on it should say pressany key to boot from cd rom
and to be perfectly honest with you as long as this is a bootable cd rom you should just have to put in thecd rom and reboot the computer and it should come up just like i said earlier ok?
but if not do like i said and change the boot configuration so the computer boots from the cd rom first ok?
I hope that this has been very helpful for you
best regards mike

SOURCE: my compaq mini notebook wont

Hi, sounds to me that you are having a software problem. When you boot the laptop choose the Last know good configuration option to see if that will correct the problem.

Replacing bios battery in evo n410c laptop

Dissemble the laptop and find bios battery. It is smaller than desktop bios battery. Usually covered by plastic wrap. Remove it and replace with new one. Observe the polarity of battery carefully.

What is my power on password for a compaq evo N410c labtop?

If you forgot Windows password, you can create a Windows password reset bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive to reset your lost or forgotten Windows password, i have created a bootable CD with the tool Windows Password Breaker and reset my administrator password successfully.

I found my compaq evo n410c notebook after ages but now when i swtich it on it asks for a power-on password but i have no clue what it is

this varies from laptop to laptop, on some laptops you can remove the bios password by removing the 3 volt memory battery inside, some laptops may have a switch inside to remove the password.

In most cases you will have to take the laptop apart to get rid of the password.

if you enter the password wrong 3 times you may get a system disabled xxxxx number message, a hp service center will be able to unlock the laptop for you.

ACTIVATE Wireless Link????

On some models check to make sure that the actual physical "switch" is turned on (if there is one). Usually located in the front or side of the laptop. Also, make sure your HOLDING the function key while pressing F2, otherwise it won't work. Hope this helps!

Compaq evo N410c sound and video play too fast

I bought a used Compaq evo N410c and had the same problem.  I went to HP's website and downloaded the ADI Soundmax Audio Drivers and both video/sound are working fine.  The drivers installed without any problems, I was not prompted to insert any disks.  nicole79, sounds like you may have downloaded the wrong drivers.
