Singer Samba 6 sewing machine

Hello, I inherited a Singer Samba 6 sewing machine from my mother and I thing the machine is not used the last 10 years.
So I think it is wise to oil the machine first? But I don't know how or where I must bring this oil.

Thanking you in advance,

It would be wise to have the machine cleaned & serviced. Do you have a manual for it? Did it come with oil at one time? I found a free manual at
http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/singer/7442.html

You have to register (free)...choose to skip the popups (2)...and you can save the manual to your hard drive.

I checked the manual...you don't need to oil the machine...but page 61-63 shows cleaning...and it's basic. You take the two screws from the throat plate, remove the bobbin case & brush the inside of the machine bed out...I use a small artists plastic bristle brush, or a small childs tooth brush.

Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Hi, thanks a lot. I don't know if it came with the oil, we assumed that it maybe needs oil (my father knew this from the old machines ;-) ) Again thank you very much for your quick answer!"

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Where put oil on Bernina 1008

Consult your owner's manual, if you have one. Your machine is probably mostly electronic. The newer Bernina electronics require oil only on the hook/race. It would probably be best to use Bernina oil meant for your model machine. Oil every 8 hours of constant sewing, or every time you change the bobbin, or every 6 months if the machine is in storage. Keeping it cleaned and oil will insure your machine will last for many years to come.

I have a Singer Samba 6. It is very old and it hasn't been used over 20 years. Everything is fine, the mashine is working but the feed system is not moving the fabric. I found the manual but it doesnt...

IF IT IS THIS OLD AND SITTING AROUND YOU NEED TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN IT FIRST. TO GET THE OLD GREASE LOOSE YOU WILL NEED TO SPRAY CARBORATOR CLEANER ON IT. USE AN OLD TOOTH BRUSH TO SCRUB WITH AND SMALL RAGS AND QTIPS TO GET HARD TO GET AREAS CLEAN. AFTERWARDS USE SPRAY OIL (WD40) ON EVERYTHING THAT MOVES AND GET THE MACHINE TO MOVE FREELY. THEN CLEAN THIS OIL OFF VERY GOOD; ESPECIALLY AROUND THE BOBBIN AREA. NOW, USE SEWING MACHINE OIL AND LUBRICATE METAL AGAINST METAL MOVEMENT OF PARTS. REMEMBER, YOU MUST DO THIS ON THE TOP AND UNDERNEATH. BY THE TIME YOU HAVE DONE THIS THE FEED DOGS SHOULD BE FUNCTIONING. MAKE SURE THE FEED LENGTH IS ABOVE ZERO OR THE MATERIAL WILL NOT MOVE.

I was given my mothers singer sewing machine model#4572. I have read the whole manuel and do not see anything about oiling it anywhere. All other machines I have had need to be oiled regular. Does this...

Hi! Some of the newer machines don't need oiling, but I would think an older Singer would require it. Use a little flashlight and look for tiny oil holes. If in doubt, a drop of oil wherever metal moves against metal can't hurt.

I inherited this 2010 machine Serial No.

Providing there are no problems with the electronic side it is a good machine, a good service might do it the world of good, normally that model would have been made in germany, if you live in the US it probably would have been made in the US
