You lay the pc on it's side(power side down), press & hold the latch down on the back, then slide the side cover back to remove. In there is the RAM, motherboard, etc. See www.dell.com for additional details. There's a service tag number on the back if you enter that in the drivers & downloads section under support for home users, you will find all that you need, specifically for that machine.

Install memory acer 5000

The memory will more than likely be on the bottom of the laptop. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory by removing the screw that hold the cover. You should see the memory slots then. If you only see one memory slot or if you see none, then there will probably be memory slots under the keyboard or palmrest area which means you will have to remove them to get to the memory.

The computer has two memory expansion slots—Slot A and
Slot B. You can install one or two memory modules.

1 Shut down your computer completely using the Shut Down
command.

2 Unplug the computer.
CAUTION: Installing a memory module with the computer’s
power on may damage the computer, the module, or both.

3 Close the display panel and remove any cables you may have
connected.

4 Turn the computer upside down.

5 Locate and remove the screws that hold the cover plate in
place, then remove the cover from the bay.

Removing the memory module cover
CAUTION: Static electricity can damage the memory module.
Before you handle the module, touch a grounded metal
surface to discharge any static electricity you may have built
up.

To avoid damaging the memory module, be careful not to
touch its pin connector on the side you insert into the
computer.

6 Remove the new memory module from its antistatic
packaging.

7 Insert the memory module in the slot and gently press it down
into place.

The clips on either side of the module will click to secure the
module.

Inserting the memory module into the slot

8 Replace the cover plate and the screws.

9 Turn the computer over and restart it.

When you turn on the computer, it automatically recognizes
the additional memory.
