From the manufacturer's web-site:

select the driver for the F4440 printer.
Choose "Windows 7 (32 bit)" or "Windows 7 (64 bit)".

Download the driver (for free).
Install it.

I have an hp deskjet f4400 printer. it was working on my pc. I have just purchased a macbook pro and now it says the printer is offline. It is setup for wireless. what should i do?

The only thing I can think of is if this is a new macbook pro it will have OS X 10.7 Lion on it and according to the hp website there are not Lion drivers for it and if hp were going to support lion with this printer they would have probably have been put up on the site by now.

Okay, we need to uninstall the printer. Go to Devices and printers~right click on the HP printer and left click on Remove device. Then reboot. The correct drivers should get installed automatically. If not use the installation CD that came with the printer or better still (if the printer is old) go to the HP web site and download the Win 7 drivers/software for the F4400.

I have upgraded to WIN 7. I'm unable to use A HP G85 Printer w/this new application. Do I need to purchase a printer that is compatible w/WIN 7

OK, well according to the HP website there are NO Win7 Drivers available for that particular printer. Now you could try to install the existing printer drivers in "Compatibility Mode for XP SP 2" however even if you DO manage to get it working, it most likely will NOT allow all functions.. as it is not a Win7 driver.
If it were me, I would indeed obtain a new printer that was instantly compatible with Win 7, I would also entertain the idea of a Wireless Printer as well, this makes a printer much more versatile.

Printer will not operate on Windows 7 computer.Computer was upgraded from Vista to 7. Vista was completely removed before installing 7. Tried downloading new drivers, didnot work.

Possibly HP rare not supporting this printer in the new OS, although most Vista drivers are compatible with Windows 7, so have you tried installing the original drivers that came with the printer?

Also, Windows 7 has a driver "compatibility mode". Here is use of the mode explained on the Microsoft tech forum:

I believe your suspicion of driver/Win7 problem is right on target. Many manufacturers have not created / updated hardware drivers to work under the new Windows 7 environment - which is much more security focused than past versions have been.

If the driver you downloaded from HP has not been tested and certified to work under Windows 7, then you have a slim chance of getting the printer to work correctly, if at all. If the driver has been tested and certified by HP, then I would file a trouble ticket with them, describing the problems exactly. You may have discovered a bug in their driver that they could not / did not test for.

You are suggested to reinstall your printer drivers by Loging on to Administrator accont of the windows. While Installing drivers your are not supposed to plug in USB or Power cable into printer untill recommended by the driver installization it self. hope fully this may solve your problem
