Question about Zoom H4 Handy Recorder
I bought a brand new zoom h4n recorder from america. Stupidly instead of trying it with batteries first a friend said they had an adapter fitting all US appliances, I said I was worried about it being the correct voltage but before I could do anything they had plugged it in and it came on for about 30 seconds before a dodgy lead came out, when we tried it again we could not get it to work at all, with the adapter or with batteries. So, i get we have short circuited it or blown a fuse or something? Anyway I'm pretty sure the warranty won't cover it and we can't get it to come on at all and it was very expensive. If anyone can help please do!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You'll require Adobe PDF Reader installed on your PC to view this manual. If it is not already installed on your PC, download it free from:
Hope this solves your problem. Thanks

Testimonial: "Guru, thanks for taking the time to send me the information on downloading the instruction manual!"
solved with glue and screw!just to make sure: ccctierney
was probably speaking about a trs 1/4' connector, not an xlr one - xlr
connectors don't really have any kind of tip that could separate, do
anyway, i bought a new zoom h4n and after my first recording the tip of a 1/4' trs "jack" connector kept stuck inside one of the "combo" sockets, making me really unhappy.
after several hours of attempts to put it out with all kinds of nails, needles, pliers, scissors etc, i finally succeeded: i found a screw (wood spin) of appropriate size, dipped its tip into a drop of quick setting two-part epoxy glue (the one i used is sold under the name "furtopur" in my country - czech rep., i'm pretty sure something similar you can get anywhere), wrapped the screw into a piece of paper to protect the connector from being glued, put it inside and had a coffee to let the glue harden. after pulling then, here we go, the tip was out, see the photo!

I discovered that if I have the stamina button engaged (by the batteries) I cannot change the record type, either by the button or through the menu (the rec setting does not give the option). If I take stamina off -- which only takes effect after a restart -- the rec settings work normaly, both through the button and the menu!

You may try some recovery software to rescue the files on your handy recorder, here are some for your option.
Photo Video Music Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Video Music Recovery for Mac
Both programs can also recover video and music files.
Note: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the recorder in case the original files(your recordings) are overwritten.
