Remove bobbin , clean out bird nest, make sure bobbin is unwinding the right way. Mine comes off the bobbin in a counter clockwise direction. It sounds to me like it wasn't threaded correctly

I'm having a problem threading my brother sewing machine model XL 3010

1. Clean up any loose thread in the bobbin area.
2. Pull on the bobbin thread while it is out. It should give a tension that is equal to the top tension of three. You'll have to approximate. Adjust the screw tension on the bobbin. It is the screw nearest to the thread exit hole on the side.
3. Put it back in.
4. Now, the top tension should be at about three. If it still allows a little wad on the bottom of the fabric you can adjust the top tension by tightening a small amount and monitor each time you adjust. The wad should go away.

Try using a style 60 or 66 bobbin. I had the same problem at first, and someone on-line suggested the different bobbin. I use a style 66; instead of having a flat bottom and top (and all those holes), it's shaped something like a bagel. Now my machine works beautifully.

Hi, I'm guessing you have the bobbin in the bobbincase upside down and its turning the wrong way. Or the machine is not thread correctly. Possibly there is junk in between the tension discs at the top that the thread goes between. Just some thoughts.
