Question about Sony Handycam DCR-HC40 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

2 Answers

I have the same problem as another user who wrote: "I hardly used my camcorder. All of a sudden my camcorder can't focus, and I got a message E:61:10 on the screen." All my research on the net indicates that the lens barrel get's stuck and can only be dislodged, either by taking it apart, or by jolting it sharply with a strike near the barrel. I have tried the latter many times to no avail. the Sony repair costs upwards of $200.-. These cameras are lemons! Does anyone know of another solution?

For blinking E:61:10, this mean a very fine dust get inside (front of) len! must always close the len cover when NOT IN USE! to correct this, do 3 things at once, use AIR DUSTER(one use for computer blowing out particle out of the computer parts, etc.... airblow gentle in the len area at the same time as gently shaking the camcorder and zooming in/out the len! this will works most of the times.... I RECOMMEND NOT BRINGING CAMCORDER TO BEACH!!!

The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling the camera to remove the lens assembly and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively but it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Camera having error WARNING FOCUS LOCK

Hello there! Focus ring lock means that some how the focus ring is not turning freely. If it turns easilly then inside the optocoupler unit which reads out the movement of ring must be dust or damage.in the flexicable. Therefore somehow the camera should be disassembled got cleaned by pressurized air in case of dust and reassembled and hopefully it should work without problem.

Ag-dvx102a can,t focus manual

you can't manual focus if you have a remote control hooked up to the focus/iris port on the camera, you will only be able to use the remote. Otherwise, try turning off Auto Focus.

Camcorder does not focus

I would check to see if your camcorder is set for autofocus or manual. If it got changed to manual by accident, that would explain it (you can USE manual, but you'll have to keep adjusting focus). If this isn't the problem I would take it to the dealer you got if from or a repair station.
