Hi.

You will probably need to replace the thermal fuse or the high limit kit.

The model listed has a three fuses high limit pieces. Here the part:

High Limit Kit
With the kit you get an high limit (Limit: 258) the gas high limit (Limit: 240) and the gas and electric high limit thermal fuse (Limit: 300).

The high limit fuses often blow at once when there is overheating.

To replace the high limit parts:

  • Unplug dryer from power outlet
  • Lift dryer top from front cover and let it rest on the hinges.
  • Check the rear top side behind the drum and locate the
  • thermal fuse
  • Disconnect white and red wires to high limit and thermal fuse.
  • Replace the parts
Before replacement fuse and high limit can be tested reading Ohms with a multimeter set on impedance at Rx1. If the parts are good, they must read zero or low impedance. When they blow, they return no continuity.

To get the part you can also enter the model number on the website linked below. ensure that you are entering the right model number. I posted parts for the model in title.

Where do I find parts and diagrams?

Regards.

Ginko.

Regards

SOURCE: Kenmore electric dryer won't start

The first thing I would check would be the door switch. Dryers operate on 220 volts. Many brands split the 220v into 110v for controls and motor and 110v to the heater. There are also safety systems on many brands that won't allow the heater to come on if the fan motor is not running and blowing air throught he element to prevent overheating and dryer fires. If the door switch is ok, check the belt. If the belt is ok, it could be a problem with the motor start switch. The motor start swith is complicated fix and should be done by a professional. ALWAYS BE SURE TO DICONNECT THE POWER BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIRS.

When I push the start button on my Kenmore 700 series dryer nothing happens. You can hear the timer clicking as if it is getting power, but the dryer doesn't come on. Could this be a defective timer?

Check the door saftey switch and the start button for continuety.
My bet is the door switch.
Then look at the timer if both those are good.

Whirlpool dryer will not start, used to start if I turned timer

whirlpool electric dryer will not start when you push start button. Model No. LER5634AW0. There is power to the dryer. The door switch appears to be working,(didn't check it with a meter). I push the start button, run it through all the cycles and still nothing. Are there any resets or circuit breakers that I could check? Where do I go from here?

Check your door switch and wires to see if they are damaged first. You may have a bad Start Switch. If it is a 2 wire switch you can tape them together and then plug in dryer ,if it starts, replace the Start switch. Please Rate this!
