Dropping a laptop has most likely damaged the hard drive, especially if the laptop was running at that time.
The hard disk needs to be replaced and Windows installed on the new hard disk, plus the laptop's device drivers and your programs.
If you cannot replace the hard drive and Install Windows yourself, then you need to ask a computer savy friend to help you or you need to take the laptop to your friendly computer shop for repairs.

Retrieving data from damaged hard disk is possible. There are companies that can remove the disk platters from the damaged hard drive and with special equipment may be able to recover your data, but it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services. The reason for this high cost, they dismantle and remove the platters in the hard drive in a clean room environment and set up the platters up in jig/drive to retrieve/copy the data.

First thing I would try is to remove the damaged hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and then plug this adapter into a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees this hard drive as an external hard drive and you can open the various folders and files, then I would backup your data.

If the hard drive is not detected then the hard drive is dead and data cannot be retrieved with this method.

What does check cable connection mean

It means that when the hard disk fell out then you have most likely damaged it which is why it is asking for a cable check ( it cannot connect now as the HDD is damaged) you will have to purchase a new HDD.

I/O device error

Hard drives are easily damaged beyond repair by dropping them on the floor.
There is no way of fixing this hard drive, if you need to recover your data, then there are companies that can recover data off faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

My laptop fell and every time i try to turn it on it will try to boot and just say disk reading error restart and every tie I restart it it will do say the same thing

It might be caused by a lot. Your laptop's hard drive could be damaged, or the cable might have gotten unplugged. I suggest that you take it to a computer tech for repairs.

Laptop fell to the floor and when it powers up a message pops up and says Operating system can not be found. What does that mean?

One of two possibilities:

1. Your hard drive popped out of place and needs to be reseated. Remove and re-insert the hard drive.

2. Or, more probable, the jolt of the fall caused damage to your hard drive and you will need to replace it.

Won't run after it fell

honestly if you get a new drive get the cheapest one that will work in your setup for testing purposes only.

because if it hit hard something else could have been nocked loose in the case and this will definatly be one way to narrow down the units issue.
