Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Xbox 360 cant play newer xbox 360 games only older xbox 360 games

My xbox 360 can only play older xbox 360 games like tony hawk american wasteland and oblivion. When I put in games like halo 3, army of two, and assasins creed it goes to xbox 360 logo but then freezes up. I was told if i have updated it yet. How do I update my xbox 360 to play newer games? What do i need? I need a detail explanation.

When the new games came out, the console updates itself when you go to play the game. Look on the back of your console at the numbers. (not serial or part) You should see 2006 or 2007. It is most likely that you have an 2006 which means that your graphics card isnt strong enough to handle the graphics from these games. If you call up microsoft and tell them that the console had the 3 red rings (even though it doesnt) They will take your console, repair it, and update it all for free.

My son wants a ps3, but i understand you cant play ps2 games on it. is this true?

Newer model PS3 systems are not backwards compatible. but if you can find the very old original model used then it will be backwards compatible with some of the PS2 games but not all. Older models are hard to come by though.

Best bet is to just keep your old PS2 along with any new system you might buy.

Xbox 360 is compatible with a large selection of its older Xbox games but recommend you get a new slim model Xbox 360 if you go that route.
