My gas oven reaches the set temperature and then it sometimes doesn't cut back in to maintain the temperature thus becoming unreliable when trying to bake something.

The burners and pilot light work but the oven will not light. We need to figure out which part to replace. It is a unit converted for propane and has no electric parts.

Ovens generally have a couple of safety devices fitted meaning no gas gets to the oven unless there is sufficient gas pressure. There is also a valve controlled by a thermocouple. The valve prevents gas passing. There is a bypass operated by either a button or pressing in the oven control knob which allows gas to flow to the pilot light (and sometimes the burners). When the pilot light is lighted and has been burning for about half a minute with the flame correctly set to heat the thermocouple bulb the valve will switch on the gas supply and the knob or button can be released. The burners will initially be at maximum until the oven thermostat reduces the flow to maintain the temperature at a preset level.

If gas isn't reaching the oven and the pipework, oven control and thermostat is ok then the safety thermocouple is either defective or wrongly fitted.

My wolf red ch-6-29-ft22l-lbl the oven has to b set at 425 to maintain 350 is this a tstat problem or gas valve issue ?. when set on 350 the flame cuts back at 275 and holds there..

it could be a thermostat problem as it controls the gas valve settings
As it is gas , call in the gas technician for the unit and have it diagnosed and fixed properly

William, probably needs the temperature probe(sensor) replaced.
You may be able to see it hanging on back wall in oven.

Replaced igniter. Is it suppose to stay on the whole time the gas oven is on?

I assume you are talking about a glow bar type igniter. Yes they stay on as long as the burner is on but will cycle off when the oven reached the set temperature then come on to light the burner again when the oven cools back down to maintain the temperature.

Replaced the ignitor on XL44, glows, lights, but turns off way before reaching temperature. I've replaced sensor as well. ideas?

Number 43 is the part I suspect is bad on your stove. It is the oven sensor. It relays back electrical current to the electronic range control. All stove sensors are built the same. They should test out @ around 1100 ohms @ room temp. If the sensor is off it will not relay correct readings to the control.

Double oven heats up and gets hotter and hotter until eventually it cuts out completely. so cant control the temperature.

There is a temperature sensor that is supposed to control the oven's heating cycles to maintain a set temperature. You can go to this site and order a replacement: http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/search.pl?query=baumatic+bt2430 it is highly advisable to let a Baumatic Certified Technician perform the repair.

GE Spectra XL Oven does not maintain oven temperature

I have the exact problem. We had the ignitor replaced 2 already and it works for 18 months and stops. Occasionally, it the oven won't even start to heat. I am ready to throw it out.

GE oven

Yup...I believe this may have been an issue with some GE models. I seem to remember a problem where some models had problems staying lit after preheating. The fix was replacing the oven thermostat. Now...the normal cycle for an oven lighting is just what you described. The glow igniter will glow first, followed by the gas valve opening, followed by ignition. Once the oven reaches optimum temperature it is normal for the gas to shut off and come back on to maintain oven temperature. However, if this is going on in a frequent fashion with the oven never getting warm, your guess is probably a correct one. Good luck to you.
