Hi - I have a Allied AL-A300ATX motherboard. I'm in the process of upgrading my old pc and I can't find a manual for this board. Everytime I power up there's a consistent beep about every 3 seconds and I have no idea what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Take out the CMOS battery (every motherboard has one). Wait 10 secs.
Put it back in.
Make sure the memory cards are plugged in properly. If you have
multiple slots, a single card has to go in the right-one.

Try again.

Usually memory chip or slot. Try refitting ram chips. Or only fit one, in each memory slot at a time.
Sometimes video code is mistaken for memory code so if a separate card is used ensure card is ok and, especially with agp, make certain it's in the slot properly.

What type of ram can I add to my Compaq EVO 510 CMT and what is the max amount?

DDR SDRAM type Ram i.e. DDR1 with 266mhz speed with DDR266/PC2100 compliance. You can simply ask for DDR SDRAM 266Mhz or you can find online with the similar compliance, DDR266/PC2100 Compliance.

I hope you still have the old one which was installed on the system, if so look at the white sticker, it should be labelled there...

Menu won't show on screen.

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it

Dell pc does not boot and cannot get into bois

Hi there,

Did you remove the power cord from the PC and ensure that you were discharged of any static electricity? If not, you may well have killed the Ram, both old and new, as with the power cord connected, the motherboard has power, even if the main PC is turned off, as it requires standby power.

You're only options, are a) to do a Bios Reset or replace the Ram, or both.

Upgrade proc from 1.7 to 2.8 ,

Try to find out from manufacture which processors are supported in different bios versions. You might have to upgrade the bios with your old processor as long as the bios you are upgrading to supports the new processor. This is true even if you have to downgrade bios meaning going to an earlier bios. It might not go into bios after the first reboot with old processor because it might not be supported but your new one is. this is when you do the CPU swap.

ATI radeon 9800 pro graphics card

Did you try the card on another PC? Maybe the motherboard is Expiring. I recommend you change to a new motherboard. because, sometimes when motherboards get too old, the pins inside the AGP and PCI slots get fried and won't give out enough power. try the graphic card on another PC.
