Question about Gateway GMAX 2100 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Alvan and The Chipmunks reside in my Gmax 2100 speakers!

This is a new one on me. When I listen to a cd, i-tunes or audio streaming on my Gmax 2100 speakers, I get the normal pitch and tone for the instruments in music, but the voices all sound like little chipmunks. I suspect I need to rewrite my driver.

If this is the case, could someone please clarify for me - do the speakers have drivers or would it be the driver for the sound card? Googled "Gmax 2100 speaker drivers" and found nothing. Checked out Gateway's website without any luck either.

Thanks much.

If you have a sound card added on your motherboard, i suggest you uninstall the drivers, take off the sound card, attach it again and install the drivers.

If you connect your speakers through the motherboard itself, uninstall drivers and install them by searching C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

Hope it helps!!!

I need the breakdown on the gmax 5 allison 5 speed

Under Windows XP, click Start
Click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button on "My Computer".
Click Properties.
The first screen will run a short "speed-test" to determine your "actual" CPU-speed, and to display the "rated" CPU-speed, e.g., 3000 MHz running at 2.99 Ghz.

POPPING NOISE

It is possible that either the speakers or the sound card have an internal fault. The best way to isolate this type of problem is to use a different audio source than your sound card uses in order to test the speakers. You can use a portable CD player, the headphone jack on your CD or DVD drive, or the headphone jack on your VCR, for example. In some instances, the speakers have been known to pick up noise from an external source. This is difficult to isolate as just about every electrical device in your house/office gives off some amount of radio frequency (RF) or electromagnetic interference (EMI) signals. Some of the more common items that can cause noise are: Your monitor Fluorescent lights An uninterruptable power supply (UPS) The computer itself Fans Turn off as many of these devices as possible before you test your speakers. Also, if your speakers are plugged into a power strip or UPS, try plugging them directly into the wall outlet instead. Good luck
