You might have a bad 664532a.jpgignitor
or you could have a bad sensor751e797.jpg If either of these to partners in crime are open(no continuity) nothing will happen in the way of heat however the dryer will run. If those 2 are ok Next thing to look for i a blown duct fuse or open control themostat0b6e3ea.jpg
If these 2 check good then you might have a problem with those04fab08.jpg pesky operator coils, when these die they usually work a little bit the have to cool off and they work a little more, very aggrevating to diagnose.
I have a late model Maytag repair manual HERE Note: this is probably not your model manual but it gives an idea what to check for.

Gas dryer dosn't heat properly

The problem is the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html

Dryer does not heat up.

Hello there:
normally on these units if the dryer was working ok and then suyddenly stopped heating your heating element or the ignitor (excitor ) has failed and is need of replacement
so i would start by having these things checked first by contacting a local repair man to do a evaluation on the unit and if kyou still have a valid warranty i would use it ok
I hope that this is very helpful for you
Best regards Richard

Maytag proforma gas dryer no heat

The model says electric and is listed as gas. If it is electric. Move all the settings (exercise the controls) If that does not work Turn both of the breakers off at your electric panel and back on. If one feels loose you know it may have tripped and you just reset it. Your drier will work fine now. Just turn it on.

Igniter works fine but there is no flame so therefore no heat

Replace the coils on this burner assembly. this will fix this issue you are having at this time.

The coils open and close the valves, which are responsible for gas flow. these coils are damaged.

the gas coils have a problem. as the dryer heats p the coils on the gas valve are failing causing the dryer not to heat. replace the coils and you should have no problem
