Check the heater. The heater is the most likely cause of tripping electric.

If you're not sure what you're doing, please contact someone who does. Electricity isn't something that should be played around with especially when in close proximity to water.

Ian.

Why does the GFCI breaker keep kicking out on my hot tub

The resistance in the unit may be due to inadequate electrical wiring and over heating of the GFCI, due you have a thermal camera, can you check the temperature before and after the unit trips. Most common cause is Length of run, motor does not use much electricity but heater will trip due to over heating, don't over think problem. Check for proper wire size and make sure the length of run from meter can handle load and demand, this may solve your problem.

GFCI Breaker tripping when turned on

Try running the motor in the dark. You may find it arcs to the chassis of the motor and that is your culprit. Had same thing on a hot tub 10 years ago. The professional techs tried everything for me. i finished the last part at 10pm and turned the motor on and saw the arc then trip the gfci. Good luck

Hot tub breaker trips but only when people are in it?

Because it is a GFCI. Try making sure that the grounds are all good. Maybe go the extra step of putting in grounding rods into the ground and grounding to the unit. These are just guesses.

Breaker for hot tub keeps tripping

Leaking heat element.
2 GFCI on same circuit.
Rat-chewed wire. Inspect wiring.
Nail through wire.
Melted wire nut in junction box.
Undersized wire and breaker has been overheating breaker, and breaker has gone bad.
Shorted breaker. Move wires to different same-size breaker.

Qo260gfi not tripping

Question is not fully clear.

2-pole 240Volt gfci circuit breaker requires the white wire be connected to neutral busbar.

Easy solution for 240Volt spa that comes with gfci:
Replace spa gfci with regular non-gfci breaker.
Install 2-pole GFCI breaker in main panel, and connect wire to spa breaker.

Having 2 breakers is not a problem.
Having 2 GFCI on same circuit is a problem.

Hello,I have an old jacuzzi vectra II hot tub (1988) 120 volt.the gfci on the unit trips every time the pump is on low speed with the thermostat calling for heat. there is no trip when there is no demand...

hi,

ok so when the pump is on high and the heater is running it doesent trip? you didnt say if it did. undo the heater leads so the pump is isolated completely. run the pump on the control centers gfci and see if it trips. if it does then try wiring directly - with an extension cord to a plug with a gfci in your house and see if it trips the gfci in your bathroom. if no trip inside house then bypass tubs gfci and run it with heater and pump through your bathroom gfci. if no trip then try and replace the tubs gfci, it gets pretty humid in the control center and gfci's have a semiconductor which which do fail after years of rough duty like that. if it trips the gfci in your house with the heater again it has a cracked heater element. craigslist always has old hot tubs and parts. you might have to buy a whole used old hot tub but that may be cheaper than a new heater box.

My breaker is conected to a hot tub. tub was working fine in auto mode. Turned on jets and breaker tripped. will not reset can you help me

I am assuming this is a GFCI circuit breaker? If it is it will have a "test" button on the breaker. When you say "jets" i'm assuming you mean when you turn on the blower to make the air bubbles? It could be you have a problem with the blower motor. When you start the blower, it trips the breaker. Be sure the blower is in off position when you reset the breaker. The most common fault though on a spa/hot tub is with the heater. If the element goes bad, and current flows to ground, it will trip the GFCI breaker. Again try and turn all functions off. Reset breaker, and then turn on one at a time till the breaker trips. First the pump, then the heat, then the blower.

If your hot tub is pulling more amps than amps sent your breaker box, you'll keep tripping the breaker. Check the rating on the hot tub and compare that to the breaker rating. You may need to uograde the wireing. Make sure the wire gauge is up to code.

Gfci breaker for spa

gfci's are designed to trip if they receive voltage on there ground/neutral side, therefore my vote is for Smithbrother I would say there is probably a partial short somewhere in you system.
