If you remove the plastic covers on that side of the printer, you will see a small screw holding a bar against the rollers. Set the printer on end so you can remove this screw with out dropping it into the printer, and then the rollers will be loose enough that you can get the paper out.

If you look at the Cartridge, on the Right side are the Rollers. Remove the cartridge and with a padded screwdriver (put duct tape so not to damage the gears) - gently push down, turning the gears. This will force the stuck paper backwards where you can retrieve it.

You can download the repair manual for a similiar Canon printer, the iR1200-1500, on Ebay for $ 3.00 to $ 5.00 and this will tell you how to take apart the printer. I had the same problem and the manual allowed me to remove the fuser assembly and clear the jam. If you prefer, Canon sells the Image Class D860/880 repair manual for you printer for $54 plus shipping. The Ebay dealer also included the parts maunal, which is a sepatate charge from Canon.

To remove the paper jam, follow the procedure---
1. Open the front cover.
2. Remove the cartridge.
3. Open the face up cover and push down the green paper release levers on both sides of the face up paper output.
4. Hold sides of the jammed paper and carefully move it inward then gently pull out.

try cleaning the pick-up and feed rollers with alcohol and see if that takes care of the problem. if it does for a short time that you need to replace those rollers

Paper jam!! gets caught in roller! help please!!

Remove jam, again. soft damp cloth, gentle wipe rollers at front, no hard pressure.

Continual jams usually are the result of purchasing cheap paper, I used to do the same, learn't lesson, only a few pence more, saves all the swearing and hassle of fiddling around with jams when you have more important things to be do?

Further tip, before placing quantity of paper in tray, holding paper firmly, twist in opps directions, this helps seperate the sheets of paper that may stuck together.

Have you checked that the paper path is clean and free of paper fragments which sometimes get jammed in the sensors? Try blowing them with a compressed air bottle.

Paper jam

What that sounds like is misfeeding.
Remove your paper tray and take a soapy cleaner, like formula 109 or fantastic and thoroughly clean the rollers.
If that helps and it statrs misfeeding in a day or two, you probably have slick rollers.
Watch inside the paper feed. Make sure the paper is going against the rollers then see if they just spin on the paper.
