Hi katie34, you may not have ever run software that cleans your PC. There are many programs that clean your PC & windows so they run just as fast as when you bought them. Click the link I have listed below. It's a free program that will go through your system & remove junk, internet clutter, temporary files you do not need & it knows what is & is not junk. When the program finishes run windows defrag. Defrag is a windows program that will line all your data up within windows so windows can move around faster. This should be run once a month.

http://www.pctuneuptips.com/recommends/clean/?gclid=CL2RiIrTmpICFSFMGgodODIPzg

To run indows defrag do this. Click the start button, slide to all programs, than slide up to Accessories, than slide to System tools & click on Disk Defragmenter. Another window will open. Click once on your Local_Drive C:\ Than click defrag. Just walk away because it will take some time to finish. Check back from time to time. When it has finished re-start your PC. Everything should run faster..

Good Luck & have a Great Weekend!
Mike

My pc is too slow what can i do?frequently it becomes hang.

the easiest solution could be to totally shut down your computer. let it reset itself, and power it back up again. If that does not seem to help, then I would clear the cache on your PC. I would also run a scan - see if there are errors.

Do you have alot of games on your PC? Do you download anything free that is offered? Many times that slows a PC way down.

My computer too slow always get the not responding reply.

Eliminate Viruses and Spyware
Step 1

Run your antivirus program. There may be something slowing your computer that you can remove. It is a good idea to run your antivirus program every week.
Step 2

Remove spyware. Run a good spyware tool at least twice a month.
Step 3

Use a pop-up blocker, if you have one. Check your antivirus program.

Dispose of the Extras

Step 1

Delete your document files for anything you no longer need. Saved pictures, audio and video files in particular can slow your computer.

Step 2

Remove unwanted programs from the Control Panel area. Old toolbars or games the kids downloaded off the Internet are a good place to start. Look for software you no longer use, such as the old printer you threw out last year.

Step 3

Clean out your email. Old messages are a constant drain on your computer's resources. Go through every folder, deleting everything you do not need. Leave no mail! Finish by emptying the Deleted Items folder.

Step 4

Turn off unnecessary programs. Check your taskbar for icons that show running programs. Disable anything you are not currently using.

Run Maintenance

Step 1

Run the Disk Cleanup tool located in your Control Panel. (Windows only. For other operating systems, please check the Resources section below.) This will remove temporary files, cookies and unnecessary components to speed up your computer.

Step 2

Defragment your computer. Defragging takes some time, but will speed your computer significantly. You can find the tool in your Control Panel. Run it monthly.

Step 3

Check for disk errors. Sometimes corrupted files slow down your computer. To find and fix these files, Go to My Computer and right-click on C drive. Choose Properties, then Tools.

My pc.. desktop is very slow.. its a windows vista

You may want to look into upgrading your RAM if there is less than 2GB installed. This is a recommendation that I have found in working with several PC's running this Operating System. Also, you would want to run disk clean up and remove any temporary files that Windows finds. Deleting any other temporary or unused files from your PC on a regular basis should increase system performance. In addition, if these steps do not solve your problem, you may want to consider upgrading to a faster performance hard drive (preferably a SATA II with a 32MB cache). As a last resort, you may look at your CPU to see if there is an upgrade for it, as well. Keep in mind that Vista is a resource hog and can slow down a PC within just a short period of time.

My computer seems to freeze. it has frozen severa...

You computer seems to be performnig slow, you can download CCleaner, and clean the garbage files.

You can go to Start-Run-%temp% and delete all the files.
You can go to Start-Run-Temp and delete all the files

You can run disk cleanup and select all the options which is available in the list.

You can go to your Internet Explorer-Tools-Options-Advance-Reset
You can also uninstall any unused program and delete the files you dont need.

These will get your computer back in track.

Shrey

My netbook runs slow and freezes

There are many reasons for slowness and freezing. Computer specs (ram, processor speed, connection speed)) could be not enough for today's internet.

Internet cache, temporary internet files, temporary files should be cleared.

Try defragmenting the hard drive.

And try downloading a program like CCleaner from Piriform.

Runs slow sticks

The link I've give you below is linked to CCleaner which is a registry cleaner for your computer which basically removes un-needed data e.g. Internet History, Internet cache, computer logs and it also fixes shortcuts or any files which are not working correctly.

I use this software on my computer every time I shut down and it has made my computer work much faster.

Here's the link: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download you can download free if you select the 'alternative download'.

Yahoo makes my internet run slow and freeze

It is more likely you need to clean up your computer a bit. Try this START->PROGRAMS->ACCESSORIES->SYSTEM TOOLS->DISC CLEANUP select this and a box opens, place a check mark in every box, you need none of this as it is duplication of duplications, and run it. Say yes when it says Are you sure...
Then when that's done (should take a while if you haven't done it for a long time or never)
Follow the same path as to where the disc cleanup is only this time select ->Disk Defragmenter and click on Defragment and let that run. This process should be done weekly and it won't take long at all the next time.
Now no matter what this will help you machine to be faster. The freeze you mentioned does bother me some, I would think the video and/or memory card could come to the center of attention. If so write back and we'll pursue that then.

My computer is very slow

on your desktop click on START, then click on RUN, a small windows will open. Type in (msconfig) without the parenthesis., this will open the system configuration windows and make sure (Normal startup is selected) then click on the (STARTUP) tab, click on disable all and then click on APPLY and then OK. a message windows will appear to restart your computer, click on DO NOT RESTART NOW buttom. this will disable programs that start with windows when you turn on your computer to make your computer start faster.

Use this link to learn how to speed up your computer:
http://www.microsoft.com/AtWork/getstarted/speed.mspx
I also recommend using an anti-virus software like (Kaspersky, Norton, Trend Micro or McAfee) internet security software to scan and protect your PC.

You can also download and install Glary Utilities from this website:
http://www.glarysoft.com/

also Run Microsoft Update to download new drivers and software updates to make sure your pc has enough resources to run programs.

My advice is do not run too many programs at the same time, this may cause your system to freeze and become unresponsive.

Comment back if this doesn't help and lets go deep into making your computer faster like running SYSTEM RESTORE, UPGRADING MEMORY, etc.
Good Luck.

Dell DIM. 3000 PC very slow & freezes up at times.

There are several reasons for a slow computer:
  1. Processor speed
  2. Memory size
  3. Too many program running
If your computer used to run fine, then it could be that there is too much running now for it to handle, in which case either a cleanup or upgrade (or both) is in order. Based on the specs from the CNET website, the Dimension 3000 comes with a Celeron D 2.4 GHz processor and 256MB of RAM (Memory).

If this is the case, then your memory needs to be upgraded at the very minimum. Anything less than 1 GB (1024 MB) just doesn't cut it anymore.

I would also HIGHLY suggest looking at the programs you have running in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) to see how many programs you have running, you might check to see if all of those are necessary.
