hi you need to reset the unit at the back near the connection there is a small button that needs to be held down when holding the power button on for a few seconds. once you have done this turn it on and it will work fine

these models and many other magellan model have issues with the power port failing..if you have a friend that has the same model, borrow his/hers and try the cradle on your gps and see if that works..im sure that power connection on that model is on the cradle.

Are you trying to charge it with a car charger?
My Nuvi 1300 wouldn't start one day, and I tried connecting it to the car charger, and it still wouldn't turn on or charge.
I connected it to a PC via USB, and it would start up for purposes of data transfer, but after disconnecting it, it still wouldn't start. I found that you have to hold the power button for 10-15 seconds in order to force the unit to reboot. I've since found that connecting the unit to the PC was also an important if not necessary step. The last issue I had with my nuvi 1300, would not resolve itself until I plugged it into the PC, let it start up, and then unplugged it, in addition to holding the power button for 10+ seconds.
