Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

LCD Screen The LCD screen in my computer was cracked and had to be replaced. The original screen was a Toshiba 15.4 in WUXGA with a part number of LTD154LZ0S. The replacement screen that they said was comparable is a Samsung 15.4 in WXGA part number LTN154X3-L01. When I hook up the new LCD screen and fire up my laptop, the screen is entirely black. I can hear the computer running and can log on by entering my password even though the screen is blank as I know the steps. If I hook up the old screen, everything is fine except for the area that is cracked on the original screen. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot/fix this problem would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for the tip. I am following up with the company that sent me the screen on Monday but will mention what you have said. I will also check out the website in your post as well.

Sounds like the new Samsung LCD screen is bad. The back-light on the Samsung LCD may be burned out. Check out this website; http://www.lcdsearch.com/

it sounds like you have a small crack on your screen that has gotten worse over time, these black areas are where the lcd crystals aren't active anymore, unfortunately there isn't allot you can do apart from buy a new screen or put up with the black lines.

The LCD panel is physically broken and can not be fixed. It can only be replaced. Somehow it got cracked. Sorry for the bad news...

Yes, but at the price of a new monitor if you can even get one now since they are limited production runs.

My back light on toshiba satellite 1415-s173 laptop

Replacing a backlight is better left to the experts of experts - it is very, very, very specialized. On these models, a dim screen can also be a dead inverter - I'd try replacing that first. If replacing the inverter doesn't solve it, then just replace the screen. Don't even think about replacing the tube yourself.

Crack screen

hi jenla,
Sharp televisions have a few layers of plastic before getting to the actual screen, these are very cheap to replace, and they just require you to take the cracked one out and replace it.
However, if the picture is affected, then it will cost alot to replace the screen, hopefully you have warrenty, you may want to replace the tv itself
