I have a linksys wireless router (802.11) and have four computers that use it. Two are running vista, one is XP and a laptop that runs XP. The computer closets to the router hooks up fine when I turn it on, but sometimes it doesn't. The other computer with vista hooks up fine but after a little while it will drop the connection. The computer with XP has a problem connecting even though it shows connection at about 51%. The laptop doesn't seem to have any problems connecting at all.

Hi, My problem is very similar, when I connect the modem to my main Pc, the wireless Pc starts to work fine then one of two things happens, a) the internet becomes un-availabe / freezes (NTL/Virgin media) to both computers{ unplugging both to reset works but not a real solution.} or b) when I am down loading / streaming on the first Pc, with the modem connected, the download freezes approx 40% into the download.
Over the past two years I have talked to both NTL and Belkin support for help, but of no use. I have replaced the modem with the same model, as the warranty had run out. But the exact same prob occurs. Ta ****

My router is suddenly not working. The internet, modem, router and the wired lights are on, but the wireless and security lights aren't on and I can't connect from my laptop wirelessly.

check the wireless settings of the router.
Open the set up page of the router and make sure that the wireless SSID broadcast is enabled.
If enabled then try to change the wireless channel of the router.
if that doesn't work then try to upgrade the firmware of the router.

No internet

Have you tried testing by bypassing your router and connecting your computer directly? If you were not able to connect, then your internet service provider should be contacted.

Suddenly router stopped working!

Hi jsamanta!

First of all check if the power light is blinking or solid. if it's blinking reset your router.

When your computer is directly connected to the router try checking the IP address by clicking start>run> type cmd then ok. then type ipconfig then hit enter. IP address should be something like 192.168.1.100. not 169.254.xx.xx. if it's the latter reset your router. use a ball point pen or a paper clip. the reset button is a small hole at the back. If the IP address is like the first one i've mentioned. log-in to your router.

launch browser (internet explorer or firefox)
type http://192.168.1.1 or whatever your default gateway is. go to the status tab and check if you are getting a WAN or internet IP address. if not you will see a "release" and "renew" button. hit release then renew. if you're still not getting anything. do a power cycle. turn everything off. connect everything the way they are supposed to be connected. turn on modem first then router then computer.

If everything fails the last options is a firmware update on the router.

Hope this helps. =)

Internet Connects but disconnects suddenly

Who is your ISP?
It seems you are experiencing intermittent connection. Bypass the router and check if the same problem exist when connected directly to the modem. If the internet works fine with the modem.then you have to configure the router correctly.

Router Suddenly stopped working...?

try power cycling your network (turn off all of the hardware)
First turn off the computer,
second, the router;
lastly the router (wgr614).

Now, turn the hardware in this order:
  1. Turn on Modem. Wait 2 minutes.
  2. Turn on Router (wgr614). wait 1 minute.
  3. Now turn on the Computer(s).
this should refresh your internet connection. If not, check your routers settings for any wrong info.
to access your router's homepage, type this (http://www.routerlogin.net) into Internet Explorer.

Router stopped working

Try first to reset it to the factoty settings by pressing the brown button on the back of the unit, next to the Internet connection. You will have to reprogram the router with your PPPoE settings, if any, and your wireless security.
