Any monitor, any size will work on any pc. The question is do you have a vga, dvi, or hdmi port on the new monitor & what connector does the pc use out of those options? There are adapters for connecting the pc to the new monitor, if you don't have matching connectors between the pc & monitor.

Error on my HP Desktop Oxcoooooof which renders my keyboard and disc player inoperable

When reinstalling the OS doesn't work then the problem is with the hardware. The motherboard probably has some bad caps. You can visually inspect the motherboard and see that some will be rounded or puffed rather than perfect cylinders and you may see some stuff leaking or having leaked and dried up. This is a common problem. The solution is to either replace the bad capacitors or replace the entire motherboard. You can reuse the case, keyboard, disc player, etc. and upgrade to a newer motherboard, CPU, and ram. I recommend replacing the PSU at the same time. Your video card may or may not work in a new system or you might not have a video card as many motherboards have a built-in GPU.

I want to upgrade the mother board in my Vaio PCV-RZ44G Desktop so that I can run Windows 8. What board forms are compatible and is an Intel I3 or I5 CPU better?

You would be better off applying the money to a new computer. You are opening "Pandora's Box" . You will end up with a old case with ALL new components. That may or may not work, A.K.A., "pain and heartache".

Upgrading a monitor does not require uparading the RAM or the video card on your computer unless you want to run graphic intensive video games.

CPU Problems

What can also give the same symptoms as a doa cpu is bad ram. About the only difference is that you usually get a post code with a cpu problem and absolutley nothing with ram.

About the only way to check a cpu is to swap it out. They are not that expensive compared to a new pc unless you want an excuse to upgrade ;-]

Ram is checked by swapping it out or just removing and checking one stick at a time. Sometimes they just need to be reseated and away it goes.

Also check the power supply. If it has overheated or dired etc nothing will work.

Once you have checked out those three you will know if it is worth fixing or junking.

What ya need to do is isolate your problem.. you need to see if your monitor is faulty OR ya PC.. OR both? ... So, test your Monitor on another PC... see if it works OK... Try another Monitor on your PC and see if it works... I think it is possible ya may find that it is your Monitor that is faulty and NOT ya PC itself.. but by doing what I described you at least will be able to isolate where your problem(s)? are. Which will dictate the steps that must be undertaken from that point to effect repair.
