Question about Nikon Coolpix 880 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Coolpix 880 is dead

I have a Coolpix 880 that just stopped working (of course during a fantastic trip to Guatemala). It won't turn on (definitely not a battery problem) or anything - completely dead. The problem is that now my compact flash card that was in the camera (with all my 150 pictures) doesn't register on my Mac when I plug it into the USB drive. Any advice for recovering my pictures?

Thanks. I took the card to Wolf Camera (no Walmart in my area) and they were able to get the pictures off the camera. I'm still a bit mystified why the cards don't register anymore on my computer. I guess I'll just need to consider them dead and start over. Thanks again for the tip.

Sure you can try going to walmarts photo center and putting your card in their machine and seeing if it will work. Just a suggestion.

Will filters I have from old Nikon film camera fit or work with my Nikon Coolpix 8800? (I have heliopan filters) Thank you!

filter size of the Coolpix 8800 is 58mm, you might find single piece adapter/converter rings on ebay...... assuming the Heliopan's are 77mm.... try searching "77 58 ring" but you might have to get 3/4 rings to bridge the difference. Eg. 58-62mm, 62-67mm, 67-72mm, 72-77mm

Read page 16 of the manual. Do not use any other charger with this camera. Are you sure you have the battery inserted correctly? When trying to charge, does the green light blink? If so, when it stops blinking and turns off, the battery should be fully charged. Do not attempt to turn the camera on while the charger is trying to charge the battery.

Hi! I have a Nikon Coolpix. I haven't used it in a while. I charged it over night but it won't turn on.

Your batery is dead they don't like long period of staying discharging (If you 100% shure that your Nikon is working) The time of charge dosen't matter.
