Question about Creda Colonial 42352 23 in. Electric Cooktop

Replacing oven element on my creda

I have just replaced the oven element on my creda colonial oven, when switching on there was a bang from within the oven. On inspection one of the terminals on the element seems to have come adrift and I assume may have touched the metal oven casing causing a short.
The grill within the oven still works but the fan or oven element now do not.
Before venturing further could anyone advise whether there is any kind of fuse within the oven or where I should be looking.
Many thanks.

Stove top ignition doesn't stop ticking

My Dacor cooktop had a similar problem of continuously clicking igniters. I unplugged it a couple months ago and used a piezoelectric igniter to get it started. Then I looked in the Dacor FAQ and it said to clean the ceramic igniter posts with alcohol not water. I had to scrape some gunk off a couple of the posts with a knife before cleaning with alcohol. Now it works.'

I think the igniters use electrical conductivity to detect when they need to spark, so even slight invisible contamination on the igniter insulator can confuse the sensing system. Also they all seem to fire as a group, so all of them need to be clean because if any one of them is dirty then they will all malfunction.
