When it dies, try removing the fuel cap for a moment, then try restart. If successful, the tank vent is likely plugged (look under the left case cover). It should be a bronze plug set into the tank surface. If no help, remove the spark plug, and test for blue, snappy spark. If nothing happens, try a new plug first. If still nothing, remove the stop switch grounding wire at the ignition module and retest. If still nothing, the module is dying with heat--replace it using a thin business card for a gap gauge. Turn the flywheel magnets under the module poles and allow the new module to stick to the magnets, then tighten the screws. Rotate the flywheel to release the card, then turn the flywheel one complete revolution to make sure the module gap doesn't close up. Hope this helps!

Husqvarna 345 chainsaw cuts off when hot

It sounds like it may be getting lean at that point, and it could be something like a tank vent. When this happens, open the filler cap, close it, and see if the saw will start.

Another easy test is to fill the tank completely in the event that a small hole has formed in the fuel line inside the tank. I doubt that is the problem, but worth the time to check before moving on to other tests.

If that doesn't work, disassemble the carburetor and clean all passages with non flammable brake cleaner (carburetor cleaner can damage check valves and soft small engine components). Sometimes dirt can accumulate in places that affect how the diaphragm moves.

If none of this works, have a service shop evaluate the unit. Pressure and vacuum tests will reveal the culprit(s) and determine if the saw qualifies for service.

I have a husqvarna 345 run for a few cuts then stops.

either blocked fuel filter in the fuel tank ( hook out and replace ) or the fuel tank breather is blocked thus causing a vacume in the tank, to prove this, when the saw starts to die slacken off the filler cap, this will allow air into the tank and it should pick up again, the breather is pressed into the tank on the r/h side rear.

When it dies, remove the spark plug and make sure that it continues to make blue sparks. If nothing, try a new plug. If still nothing, then the ignition module is likely dying from the heat--replace it. If sparks continue, then try spraying starting fluid into the plug hole, replace the plug, and try to start. If it pops once or twice, then suspect a fuel delivery problem. Try loosening the fuel cap for a moment, then try to start. If it runs again, suspect a plugged fuel tank air vent. Try cleaning the engine area with compressed air, particularly behind the starter mechanism. Hope this helps!

Our new to us john deere 345 tractor won't keep running

You may try blowing backwards from behind the fuel filter into the gas line. Not to much air pressure though. Make sure the gas cap is off.

Remove the muffler and inspect the piston and rings. If there are any vertical lines or grooves in the piston or the rings, you must rebuild the top end of the saw. (including cylinder)
