Go to the control panel ... first under the device manage in system / hardware check that the drivers for your sound card are installed .... next go to the sound section in the control panel and make sure the proper device is selected fro playback ... make sure nothing is muted ... other things that can mess up your sound include onboard sound disabled in BIOS, bad connections or bad speaker power supply ... also you can test the audio output using headphones

ok so they were working then just stopped ... so if you are using XP or Vista goto the control panel and system then hardware then device manager.... the device manager list the hardware on your system ... goto sound, video and game controllers .... look for the entry for your sound card ... right click and left click uninstall ... close everything and restart your system .... the drivers will auto reinstall shortly after you restart....

Cannot get speakers to work. ear piece works but not front or rear speakers.

External speakers usually require a power source. This may be provided by USB, power adapter or sometimes batteries.

They need to be plugged in AND switched on. And the audio plug needs to be in the audio socket - easily confused with a microphone socket

If you have checked that and they still do not work, you may have damaged wiring.

One last thing. Some digital speakers require a special digital socket - although the plug is the same. Check that your speakers are analog for use with a standard audio output!

Speakers not working

Audio driver installed and not corrupt? Double check the memory modules are all the way seated. I've seen improperly seated memory do weird things. Make sure the audio ports are still enabled. Mine can be disabled in the software.

Having speakers to work on vizo desk top . all in on desktop!

You need to remove the unknows first. Try the speakers on another device. You could try a walkman, another computer or anything with an 1/8th" Stereo jack. Prove that the speakers work or get a pair of headphones to check out your PC. If you are using the green jack on the back try the headphone jack on the front. If the front works and the back doesn't check the sound card options / set up. Some have an icon by the time in the bottom right corner others will need to be found under the sound effects manager or the sounds and audio devices icon. I suspect if you get this far something has been turned off in the software.

Dell Dimension 4700 PC Speaker No Sound

Check to make sure all cables are connected. After this you will need to click on your sound card properties and set it to 5.1. which will allow all the speakers to play.

Please note you will need to have a card that supports 5.1 sound I do not believe the stock card in the Dell supports this feature which could be the problem.

I recently connected a Packard Bell 1020 monitor with mounted speakers to my Compaq 85000 tower. I had external speakers that worked prior to this, and I cannot get the packard bell mounted speakers to...

You need a driver for your Compaq's audio card. You can input the exact model number at the site linked below to retrieve the one you need.

Speakers wont work for my Hp dc5000

You will need to disable your pc speakers. If you are running Windows XP then you can do this through control panel - Sounds and audio devices. Your external speakers should be working then if you have the correct audio software for the motherboard.

Can't set up speakers to work with the computer

Hi

Speakers are usually very simple to set up. If they are standard speakers then all you should need to do is plug them in at the mains, and then plug them into the correct port on the back of your computer. There are three holes the same size for speakers/headphones, microphone and possibly video. I'd suggest putting some music on (use windows media player or go to playlist.com) then plugging the speaker cable into each hole in turn - one of them should work. Make sure that the speakers are turned on and that the volume is turned up. Also if you go to Start>>>All Programs>>>Accessories>>>Entertainment>>>Volume Control and make sure that the volume there is set to at least halfway for each and that the mute box is not checked for any.

If this does not work then there may be a problem with your soudcard or with the speakers themselves. Try using headphones and if this works then you know that there's a problem with the speakers.

Hope this helps!
Philip

AUDIO PROBLEM

Some of the newer machines will not let usb speakers work unless they have their own power. Some require speakers to have a default power system.(110 V.) You may Require a install cd if your speaker are the more expensive speakers with surround sound. You need to check the specs on your speakers.
