Same thing just happened to me on a six month old unit. It's scheduled for warranty repair this week. I'll try to report back what the problem is.

I have the same problem but the TV is not under warranty. Can someone tell me what was the problem according to the repair man? My impression from other posts was that there was some 'board' that may need to be replaced. Can someone confirm? Where could I order the parts? How much to fix without a warranty?

Same thing has just happened to me. I updated the software with the "autorun" file and it still has not returned to normal. Has anyone figured out how to fix it?

Symptom Vertical lines seen in TV picture/blurry/no color
Cure:
Upgrade (or reload when already having this version) the main TV software (= "autorun.upg" file) to version "000.094.000.000" (or later) *.

* Explanation: The "autorun.upg" version ID must be read as "0.94.0.0" (remove the leading zero's). This ID is used in the Service menu's (CSM and SAM) of the TV, and this SW file is downloadable from the Philips Consumer web site via "Product Support" -> "Software & drivers".
Additionaly, this "autorun.upg" file is also part of the One-ZIP file (which includes all other necessary TV software for servicing). This file is only downloadable from the Philips Service web site via "Servicer network information" -> "Software for Servicers only". To distinguish it from the "autorun.upg" version, the first "0" ; is changed into "1" (or any other digit). So that is why the One-ZIP version ID will for example read "1.94.0.0".
REMARKS:
Philips offers TV software upgrade capability using a USB memory stick. The software can be downloaded from the Philips consumer support website. Before downloading, carefully read the instructions that are attached to the SW file.

The screen has colored vertical lines and becomes to a dark black band about 6 inches of width. The tv is exactly two years old by today.

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display problem (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

Further info, pics, comments, and updates on my Facebook page at

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further solution updates will be on my Facebook page.

Blue vertical line thru picture

It is called "Thin vertical lines" and change colors depending on the background color.
It is fixable but there are several components that can show this sympton.

You will need a tech to fix it in order to save money (because you do not want to buy a board you dont know if will fix it).
Possible Solutions:
Replace Timer Control Board, if it is not fixed
Replace Sustain Board.

One of those boards needs to be replaced and I wrote the most likely first.

Parallel vertical lines through left side of Panasonic Plasma tv

This sounds like one of the driver boards at the bottom or top of the screen has an intermittent fault. The set will have to be taken in to a service centre.

Black screen, high pitched squeal

A set that has only a 1/2 inch bright line through the middle of the picture, from left to right, has a vertical output IC that is not working correctly. If the 1/2 inch line is in the middle but going up and down, then the horizontal yoke circuit has stopped working. These are problems which should be looked at by a qualified tech, but if the set was purchased 6 months ago then it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.

Vertical flickering color lines instead of pictures

Take your set to a qualified tech you have a bad vertical ic or some cap around the vertical section is not filtering the voltage properly and your deflection yoke could also be bad.good luck.
