I repaired my 3 light xbox error by removing the motherboard from the console adding a 5VDC fan to the GPU processor heat sink, oriented to draw air towards the back of the xbox and the exhaust fans. I pulled both of the heat sinks off of the processors and cleaned them and re-applied thermal compound. So far this has taken care of the 3 light (ring) problem for me.

You have what is called "ring of death" it means your xbox has overheated and melted the solder joints on the motherboard you can call 1-800-4my-xbox and they will send you a box to mail it in whether or not you have to pay depends on your warranty.. 90% of the time they need to replace the entire board because it becomes warped there is nothing you could do yourself except buy a new one

Check to see if all wires r pluged in corectly. a wire might have got disconected. or try to replug all ur wires (take them out, put them back in) also check the power brick 4 ur 360. the light should be green when the 360 is on.

My xbox ix switching on and shows three red rings and after 5 minutes the brick turn orange and it now has two red rings whay do i do to fix it

Thanks for your question. To fix the 3 red lights what you will need to do is stop the heat getting to the GPU and the CPU and to do this you can use a good Xbox 360 Repair guide or of course you can send it in.

Part of the outer ring is coloured red and the game wont work

Yikes! red ring is not good, if the whole ring is red you need to check your AV cables, three sections is the Red Ring of Death and you need to send your Xbox in for repairs(http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-360/troubleshoot/flashinglights.aspx). Off the top of my head I can't remember what the two or one red sections mean, I do know their not as serious as the three. my girlfriends freezes from time to time and red rings, but when we restart her system it all goes away (sometimes it still jams at the Xbox load screen)

Flashing red ring on x box 360 console

3 Blinking red lights often means that your Xbox 360 has suffered from hardware failure.

4 Blinking red lights means that your Audio / Video cable is not correctly connected (it's the colorful one; Red, white, yellow; green, blue, red if Component)

If it IS just three lights, and you bought your xbox 360 under three years ago, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX
