I have a black screen on my tv but it the green light turns on when i plug it in. I have asked around and everyone wants like $600.00 to fix so I started talking to more people and they think it is the motherboard, what do you think and where can I get a motherboard for that?

My neighborhood bar has 8 of these screens, in about 2 years 3 of them have failed (turns on but no picture). 2 of them were catastophic failures, with evidence of a small fire having taken place on the high voltage row driver circuit boards and the flexible conductor going to the glass screen.
These are total losses as it will be too expensive to replace the glass (if I could even get it) and all the damaged pcbs.
The most recent failure happened 2 days ago, and it's still taken apart on my bench. Its failure is in a similar spot, although not nearly as bad, but still caused damage to the row driver pcb and damaged the power supply board upstream of it.
This one may be fixable since I may be able to salvage parts from the other 2. Unfortunately I am suspecting these failures may be caused by a short in the array on the glass plasma screen itself. This causes major current to flow through these circuit boards, they get real hot and ultimately the driver IC will delaminate from its heatsink and then it lets its smoke out.
I wouldn't recommend attempting repair on these plasma sets unless you really know what you are doing as there are high voltages present. (Va=70v, Vsc=-190v, Vs=200v, Ve=84v, Vset=195v) Between Vs and Vsc is nearly 400v of potential, that would hurt bad if you got into it.
But if you want to see if yours failed in this way: With the back cover off (make sure its unplugged too), look along the left side of the screen where the 6 flexible conductors come from the glass screen. These conductors are connected to 2 circuit boards. These circuit boards each have 6 driver chips with heatsinks glued to the top of them. Inspect the glue around the chips looking for discoloration. Mine went from pale white/yellow to a brown color where the failures were. Also check to see if any of the heatsinks are loose (you shouldn't be able to twist the heatsinks at all) as that will be evidence of excessive heat or a blown up driver. There is an audio board covering 2 or 3 of the drivers so you may have to remove the 2 screws holding it in place and some aluminum tape to really see all of the driver ICs. If you find problems in this area, the set might not be worth fixing.
After seeing how badly these things failed, I won't ever own a plasma tv, just to much risk of having an unrepairable boat anchor after the warranty expires.
