Question about GE Zoneline AZ55H07D Air Conditioner

Zoneline PTAC short circuit

I would appreciate some advice. I just installed a digital thermostat from GE RAK148P1 on an existing Zoneline PTAC. The low voltage line short circuited while installing the thermostat (stupid, I know). Now, the PTAC doesn't work. There is no light in the touch pad controls (with or without the thermostat).

Do I need to replace the PTAC?

Thanks!

Most likely you will need to either replace transformer or there may be a low voltage flat type "car fuse" usually 3 amp or 5 amp for just such an occasion. Good luck!

Trips when plugged in

What trips? If you are referring to the circuit breaker then I suspect the breaker is not sufficient for the power the unit draws. Beware installing a higher amperage breaker. First be sure the wiring and all bomponents are adequate.

The gfci tripswhen i turn my ptac to heat what is my problem?

The gfci is short for the ground fault circuit interrupter. This prevents voltage from the hot side of your AC circuit to feed through to the case. This would mean somewhere within, a wire may be touching the frame. You should not try to live with this situation. One quick check might be to reverse the plug in the receptacle. If this does NOT cause the GFIC to trip, then the short must be found and insulated with electrician's tape.

Stat issues with GE Zoneline

Your coils on the outside unit may need cleaning. When they get dirty, air cannot flow through them to remove heat from the refrigerant. When this happens pressure increases until it trips a safety and shuts the unit down.
It won't run again until the pressure drops to a safe level. Also check your drain line..Make sure it's dripping. If not it's clogged and that will trip the safety switch not allowing water to back up

Ihave 50 ge zoneline ptac units.only the middle of the evap. is sweating.low pressure is read ing in ******

Check the air filter and coils are cleaned. If it's o.k, then it is due to short of gas. Find out the leak and arrest it, then do vacum and gas charging.
