You can try to set it up ....get the video signal from the sec monitor out ..of the laptop ...and see the options into the desktop ...maybe it will work ...I dont see other way to get it ..but like a video input...the way you attach an auxiliary dvd player or something .and use the signal into the feature you have for clone monitor..in the desktop ...I never tried but it kinda seam logic ..its just a video signal ..and it has to be able to capture and see it ...but remember I dont really thing you will be able to interfere into it but just see it ..the handling will be made from the laptop's controls

yeah ,,,the idea is interesting ...if you have a big size monitor to watch and do practically 2 computers in one ...and another great things is to watch on a big screeen and have all the commands if needed in the comfort of your laptop ...it might work...try it ...so ,,,to get video out from secondary monitor out of the laptop you have to enable it first ..some work with a shortcut Fn+f4 some have other ..but it works from the settings of the video-card or of the desktop properties..

Hi, My Acer 4720 refuses to connect to a proxima or any other presentation device, no error, Alt F5 just don't work, and it did before.

You will probably have to re-set it up all again, to make it work, it's probably lost the driver etc, and if "it" is taken off, the laptop, reverts to single monitor mode, you will need to hook it all up to the PC and go to Video card properties, right click, the desktop, choose Properties, and then setup the dual screen setup and enable Spanned/Cloned desktop and enable the output. After you have done this you should be able to use Alt F5.

I have a Silicon Image 164 ADD DVI card added to my HP desktop DVI-D access card in an effort to get a dual monitor configuration. I get an exact clone in the second monitor. I have an HP compaq desktop...

If the Intel graphic card is part of the motherboard, you need to disable this in the BIOS. You need to install the Silicon grpahic driver, then you will be able to configure the screen resolution etc for each monitor.

LG Monitor Unable to Correctly Detect VGA Input

the problem is not the monitor. To be able to correctly set a dual display mode you need to configure you video card to do so. This is accomplished in your video card's control panel. There are various modes:
Clone: it simply clone the screen you'll have the same output on both monitors.
Extend: this will extend your desktop and make it one big screen.
theres another mode to show video only on one screen while the other display regular desktop activities you'll have to experiment.
the procedures for doing this varies depending on you video card: ati, nvidia, or Intel.

Configuring Laptop for Flat TV S-Video Connection.

Greetings,

Connect the second monitor to the blue VGA port. Download catalyst control center from the below link and install it. Using catalyst control center, you can configure dual monitor. You may need to check 'force tv detection' setting in catalyst control center.

Here is a little guide for setting up dual monitors with fedora core 6: http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-setup-dual-monitors-on-linux-fedora-core/

I haven't had to use duals monitors with Linux yet but if this doesn't work let me know and I'll run some tests as I can easily set this up at work (we use the same computers and similar cards).

"No signal detected" when LCD connected with DVI-D Cable

Thank you for providing your configuration details.
You have failed to specify wheather or not your LCD Display is under Warrenty.

Perhaps these simple trouble shooting procedures will get the job done.

1. use the DVI to VGA adaptor that came with your card

Plug in a regular CRT monitor to the Primary Display Output Port using the DVI to VGA adaptor
( either port can be designated as the primary by you )
I like to use the Port nearest to the motherboard as the Primary

2. plug in the your LCD monitor on Secondary Display port using your DVI cable

At this point you should be able to see your desktop on the Primary CRT Display

3. Go to the display properties and use the Nvidia Dual Display Setup Wizard

set both desktops to CLONED at a resolution of 1024x768 and set the refresh to 60Hz
which is default for most LCD displays , some have higher refresh rates , consult your user manuel

If the display resolution and refresh are set incorrectly for your CRT or LCD you will see
Signal Out of Range ( if the display has the ability to display that error message )

At this stage both displays should be showing a Windows Desktop

If you now see your desktop on both displays , you can now put the LCD on the Primary Port

No Signal Detected ( this means the display device is not receiving a signal )

If your LCD display is still displaying the error message
"No Signal Detected" after performing the trouble shooting proceedures
You may need to read the user manuel about how to enable DVI signal input.

If you are certan you have done everything correctly but still see only "No Signal Detected"

Your LCD Display may need replacement

Problem with Digital Input

Hi,

You may need to switch monitor selection in your Display Properties. You need to activate twin/dual view in your Display Properties. Right click on any clear area of your desktop, click on Properties, click on Settings tab, select monitor 1 or 2 depending which is your primary and which is your secondary (analog/digital). Check (or uncheck-whichever works) on box "Extend....". Apply, OK.

There is an application that is supposed to facilitate twin or dual view configuration, UltraMon. This may be better/safer way to address your concern.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you have other concerns.

Good luck and kind regards.
