My Mac is suddenly not recognizing my wireless connection and my dlink router is flashing an orange globe. I tried unplugging & restarting the router, but it is still not listed as a network. How do...

You have to resolve whether it's the router, the wireless in the router or the wireless in the mac.
The flashing orange may be an indication (what does the d-link guide say - look on the CD that came with it)
Try connecting the mac to the router with an ethernet cable - there should be one in the box. The mac will automatically pick up the router if the wireless isn't working. Can you connect to the net now? If you can, then the router is working OK. If not then the router may well be corrupted. Reset it by pushing the end of a straightened paperclip into the tiny hole on the back of the router. It may be labeled 'reset' but if not check the CD again to ascertain where it is.
Most likely you will have to reinsert you broadband log-in and password (and make any other changes that had been done. (wifi security setting etc.) If the transmitter comes on, you should see the network d-link?? appear in the airport menu.
If you still can't connect (or can't see the router in the airport menu) then you need to use another computer (or an iPhone or iPod Touch) to see if the transmitter can be seen by them. If not then it is most likely that the router is not transmitting. If they can, then the problem lies with the airport in the Mac.
That can be more problematic to resolve. So I'll stop now.

Does anyone know how to Do MAC address filtering on Thomson TG782T router?

1st. Have a look at the wireless card that is inserted in your computer, check the label it, will have the MAC address printed on the label. If the wireless card is inside the laptop then have a look at the properties of the wireless card - it should give the MAC address of the wireless card.

2nd. Connect a LAN cable to the wireless router and enter the router's configuration URL address and go to the wireless configuration - then click on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless card.

The router will only allow the MAC addresses that are in this table to connect to the router.

As soon as i plug in my d link wireless router into my laptop i loose my internet conection why is this

The router should be configured manually if it didn't work atuomatically. If you are on DSL ISP, configure the router on PPPoE connection type. If you are Cable ISP, configure the router for MAC Cloning. You can read the manual on how to do PPPoE or MAC Cloning.

I need to secure my wireless router

When you first setup a wireless router you need to connect the wireless router to the computer with a LAN cable.
Then you open a browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and on the address bar you type the IP configuration address of the wireless router eg. for Netgear and D-Link wireless it is http://192.168.0.1
Enter the default login name and password.
You should change the password and you should setup WAP or WAP2 encryption (WAP2 is the strongest encryption) and change the SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
For further wireless protection enable MAC address filtering. The MAC address of the wireless card is entered in the router MAC address filter table, which allows only the wireless card with this MAC address to connect to the router.
The wireless card on the computer needs to be configured with the wireless router's settings. The LAN cable can be removed and the computer communicates wirelessly with the router.

Wireless router blooking

Hi,

You can block other users by enabling the MAC Filter and only accept connections from your PCs MAC numbers.  To determine the WiFi MAC numbers of your PC, click on Start, click on Run, type "ipconfig /all" on all your PCs. Look for the Wireless networking cards and their numbers which should be something like 00:A1:B2:C3:D4:E5. In the Web Configuration of the router, enable MAC Filter and enter those numbers in "Allow". Save and Exit. From thereon only the PCs with the MAC numbers entered would be allowed access to the Internet.

I personally find this preferable rather than WEP or WPA which causes slowdown in WiFi connections.

Hope this be of help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How do I find the MAC address of my wireless router?

The MAC address is listed on the label located on the bottom of the router, below the serial number. The LAN/Wireless and WAN MAC address can be obtained by logging into the web-based configuration of the wireless router. Follow the steps below for this method. Step 1 Open a web browser and type the IP address of the wireless router in the address bar (default is 192.168.0.1). Press Enter. Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the default password is blank (nothing). Click OK. Step 3 Click the Status tab and then click Device Info to the left. This page will list the WAN, LAN, and Wireless MAC address.
