These instructions will fix the majority of scanner problems and networking problems using ethernet:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01849855&lc=en&dlc=ro&cc=ro&product=3643612&rule=4124&lang=ro

The key is to assign a static ip address for the printer. The install problems of trying to get the HP printer to be found will go away. You can then use the scanner. Also...it is crucial that when connecting other laptop's and PC's on the same network that you use the hp printer'rs host name to find the printer on the network. I find that the IP address can and usually fails to find the hp on the network. Mostly likely you cannot search the network for a hp printer until you go the route of find the hp network printer with the host name of the printer. You will also need your install disk when installing on other networl laptop's and PC's since windows xp and Vista machines don't have the drivers in the list. You will need to point the add printer gui driver to the disk and look for autorun.inf
file. After selecting that file...you can then see your drivers.

The Solution Center might be blocked by a firewall or Internet software such as AVG. Hp has a list of ports that must be allowed through the firewall in order to Scan.
HP has a whole page of these files that require you to unblock them. The link is http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00897542

Carefully enter all the port exceptions in your firewall to let these programs through.

Unable to input a destination for the Button Settings Tab

Even if the printer installs OK, the scanner is not allways recognized. Try to look for new hardware>scanners in Control Panel. It migth want the HP CD or the driver from www.HP,com. Or find a picture editing program and File>Import>HP officejet Pro L 7590 AIO- twain! That works!

Trouble scanning

You need to go the HERE. It is the software and drivers page for your printer. Select your operating system. Then download the "FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE AND DRIVER".

This should get you scanning from the button.

A work around is to scan from within HP Solutions Center.

Good Luck!

Don't know how to scan things. I have a HP Officejet Pro L7590.

That's usually done through the HP Image Zone software, assuming the scanner is physically connected and "visible" to the computer.

The scanner will not work on the L7590

Found on HP page:

Open the following ports on the firewall utility by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer: UDP ports: 161, 427 and 137
TCP ports: 9220, 9500 and 9290

I allow these ports in my firewall (router firewall) and it works now.
