Question about HP Officejet Pro L7590 All-in-One InkJet Printer
Hello, When I open the program HP Solution Center by Officejet Pro L7590 printer and push the buttons "Scan Image" or "Scan Document" appear a message error:
"An error occurred communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly and try again"
I can print perfectly. The printer is in a LAN, my PC is Windows XP SP3 and other coleague with Windows XP too works perfectly. Any idea?
These instructions will fix the majority of scanner problems and networking problems using ethernet:
The key is to assign a static ip address for the printer. The install problems of trying to get the HP printer to be found will go away. You can then use the scanner. Also...it is crucial that when connecting other laptop's and PC's on the same network that you use the hp printer'rs host name to find the printer on the network. I find that the IP address can and usually fails to find the hp on the network. Mostly likely you cannot search the network for a hp printer until you go the route of find the hp network printer with the host name of the printer. You will also need your install disk when installing on other networl laptop's and PC's since windows xp and Vista machines don't have the drivers in the list. You will need to point the add printer gui driver to the disk and look for autorun.inf
file. After selecting that file...you can then see your drivers.

The Solution Center might be blocked by a firewall or Internet software such as AVG. Hp has a list of ports that must be allowed through the firewall in order to Scan.
HP has a whole page of these files that require you to unblock them. The link is http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00897542
Carefully enter all the port exceptions in your firewall to let these programs through.
