Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have at&t wireless and 3 pcs hooked up. 2 run great: one is a Toshiba satellite A205 S4577 laptop running win 7. It's been acting ODD; the mouse (via touchpad ONLY; there is no plug in or wireless mouse at all) acts just fine when not connected to the net. The moment I connect it, the mouse/pointer/cursor acts odd; I move in a straight line and it goes zigzag, is HARD to control, opens things by just passing over them and if you stay still with finger on the touchpad, it moves almost like an eratic heartbeat. We're worried someone hacked in and is controlling the mouse/cursor/pointer because the MOMENT we disconnect from the net, it acts fine. I did a virus check and took off lots of trojans (my 15 yo sons pc) and also did malwarebytes, just installed Trend Micro and running that, did AVG and even Microsoft Essentials, etc. I'm at a loss here. The other two pcs running off the same net are fine with no problems whatsoever....

Alot of trojans, viruses, malware etc, stay in memory even after they are removed. Not all of them do but some. My thinking is that your laptop is still infected, sometimes these things put themselves in the windows registry in which case you can try to use a registry cleaner and see if that helps.

There is spyware that is being activated when you go online, probably more then one and with the memory its taking up it could make the mouse act funky.

Spyware and viruses can also make a computer run really slow and make programs act really weird and strange.

Honestly, your best option would be to save any documents, pics, stuff like that onto a flash drive and then reformat the laptop back to factory defaults.

Only reason I'm saying this is because there was alot of spyware removed so god only knows how corrupt the windows registry might be at this point.

One last thing you might want to try, Click on the windows icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, in the search box, type in MSCONFIG and press enter. The system configuration utility box will come up. Click on the startup tab and then click on disable all. This will stop those programs from loading when you boot into windows.

After you do this the computer will want to reboot. After the reboot, now try connecting to the internet. If the problem goes away then you know its something that it was one of those programs that got disabled that was causing the problem. If it still happens then I would go ahead and save your documents, pictures, etc, and restore it back to factory defaults.

The restore only went back to like 7 days ago for some reason. I noticed it kept turning off after I'd turn it on and go about my way, so it hasn't been recording anything :(

My brother has taken it down to a 'paperweight' twice since December....

where is a good registry cleaner that you would recommend for me to try?

I want to change the 2 x 512DDR ram by 2x 2GB DDR ram memories in my A205-S4577/Toshiba. Will it work?

hi,
it will work as your notebook is supporting maximum 4 gb RAM but please check that you are using 32 bit operating system or 64 bit one.
If it is 32 bit then the system will be showing 3.2 gb RAM only as this is the 32 bit os limitation.

Have you tried a new power AC/DC convertor ? make sure you have the correct spec...see manual for power adaptor needed. Cost less if you can get a loan of one. other than this i would be looking into checking the power jack. hope this helps

Check your power settings. You might have it set to shut off after a certain time of non-use.
