Norelco shaver sudden power loss

My Norelco shaver work time dropped from 39 minutes to 35. After some time, it started to lose all power, even though the power meter showed enough power remaining. I replaced the batteries, it worked fine for some time but happened again. Discharging and charging again lifted the work time to 45 minutes, but the problem reoccurred.

I hope you are observing the following:- Recharging only when the batteries are almost completely empty. Continuously recharging or continuously using as a corded razor will reduce life of batteries Charge only when the indicator in charge meter starts blinking. It appears that your batteries are gone. Hope you have replaced the batteries with the new ones. Use a good brand

Most of the time what something stops completely, you check the cable and connectors. If they are ok, perhaps something got lose in the shaver, but if you are not in electrics, better start save in for a new shaver.

Hello,
the battery of your Norelco 6867XL is weak and cannot hold charge for long any longer. The cell in the battery as become very weak such that it cannot hold charge for a very long time anymore. This it why it looses power one day after it is fully charged.
Have the battery replaced and problem should be solved.

Norelco 4805 xl razor won't turn on when plugged in nor will the battery charge. i would think it was the battery but it does't want to turn on when plugged in either. is the motor shot? thanks


When the battery goes completely bad, the shaver will not work even from the cord.
You will need to open the shaver and make sure that the batteries have not corroded badly and damaged the inside of the shaver.

Norelco 5865XL: Suddenly the blade heads are making excessive


It sounds like one of the heads is damaged. You will need to replace it. These come in sets of 3 combs and 3 cutters.

Red light at bottom flashes even when razor ids fully charged. What can causrethis?


When the battery is almost empty (when there are only 5 or fewer shaving minutes left), the battery symbol lights up red.

Make sure that the battery does not have a memory effect. What I suggest is taking the shaving head unit off and running the shaver till empty, then recharging. Check if the red light is still flashing.

There's also a head indicator at the bottom of some shavers.

To remind you to replace the shaving unit, the shaving unit symbol flashes (all types) and you hear a beep when you switch off the shaver (RQ1090 only). This happens at the end of 7 successive shaves to remind you to replace the shaving unit.

Without knowing what model you have it's difficult to diagnose further.

Rechargeable Shaver will not turn on even when connected to A/C.


Jessy, Your rechargeable battery has finally degraded to the point that it is no longer capable of being recharged. Also, once rechargeable batteries get to a certain point, as yours have, the use of the power cord won't allow the shaver to operate either, since the battery can't pass the electric current through them to the motor, etc.

The good news is that for a few dollars, you can have your electric shaver working like new again. The batteries are replaceable, but you'll have to either disassemble it yourself, or have this done by a qualified service center, as it requires the ability to de-solder and re-solder it onto the motor circuit board.

If you want to have it done (or do it yourself), you can contact www.electricshaver.com or call them at 1-888-476-1785 and request a quote for having the service done by them, or ask them to verify the correct replacement batteries for your Norelco shaver. Typically, the proper battery for the Norelco 7710 shaver is part number 13810584. This is a Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni Mh) Rechargeable 1.2V with solder tabs, AA size.
You'll find that for a very low cost repair, you can extend the working life of your rechargeable shaver by many more years. I've done this many times myself and find I've saved literally hundreds of dollars, especially given the rather high cost of new electric shavers today.

Norelco 8894XL will not take a charge


Sounds like you're getting to the end of your natural battery life. As for replacing the batteries, it's not an easy job. You need to have a special Torx screwdriver to undo the screws.

The batteries are soldered onto the Control Board (it's unfortunately not just a case of cracking open the case and putting in batteries in an instant)

It may be worth speaking to your local Philips Service Center (refer to www.philips.com)

Not being at work, I can't check whether your shaver is a mains/rechargeable, but if you plug it in and it works full power immediately you've got a workaround. I usually recommend if you're replacing a shaver to spend a little more $$'s to get one that is mains and rechargeable so that when the batteries die, the shaver is still useable.
