HD monitor distorted image on hdmi cable

I have benq e2220HD monitor and a pc running windows 7 with ati radeon 5700 GPU running on latest drivers. My monitor works very well when I connect it via the Dsub connection which has a dvi to dsub converter. (GPU has one dvi and 2 hdmi outputs) The monitor is able detect the settings and auto adjust and everything is just fine. But when I use hdmi the image is not the same size as the screen its smaller and distorted. The charachters appear blurry and it is much harder to read.

Green horizontal lines on display

First thing to try is another HDMI cable and see if this fixes the problem. Seen a bad cables way too many times...

Second: update your videocard to the latest drivers:
You can find the correct drivers @ AMD support. Click the link and choose the correct settings. Then click display results. Download & install.

Third thing you could try is another monitor. Even a new monitor can be broken. Not uncommon. If another monitor has a good image then return your new one and let them give you a good one

Good luck!

My hp 8510p keeps overheating when i run an application that stresses the gpu. the fan is working fine and i recently applied thermal paste twice to no effect. i cant run games that i was able to run

Have you cleaned the CPU fan by removing it from the case and cleaning it with compressed air.
Make sure you have applied thermal paste to the GPU itself and not only the CPU ,make sure you are not over-clocking and try updating latest graphic drivers too.

hope this helps.

If you take out the graphics card and use the onboard graphics card does the pc power up then?
Also have you tried another graphics card on that pc? if it still does not work then it could be the pci-express port that is faulty.

ATI Radeon HD 4350 will not display red.

It could be a problem with the monitor cable.

Try unplugging and re-plugging the PC to monitor cable (VGA cable)

If possible, Use a different monitor to ensure that your video card is working fine.
