It's likely more than just the onboard video that went bad. This is often cause by the chipset going bad; which causes the video to go out along with other things at times. The heading to your issue says that your desktop is a refurbished one. I would almost be willing to bet that the initial problem it had (causing it to have to be refurbished) was that the chipset went bad. Sometimes this can be fixed by "reflowing" your motherboard - your chipset in particular. Unless your video chip is discolored (brownish-burned look), then it may be possible to fix it. What may be the problem is that your video chip, or chipset, got pretty hot and that the heat caused the solder to soften or even start to liquefy, and then the chip slipped out of it's socket just enough to cause your problems. There aren't alot of places that "reflow" or "reball", and even having it done doesn't guarantee it will work again. Reflowing your board requires you to remove the motherboard from the case and heat it up just enough to get the chip to slide all the way back into it's socket. Reballing requires the chip to be completely removed, and thn putting little balls of solder on the pins of the chip, then you heat the motherboard up with a heat gun or high-powered hair dryer to get the chip to slide back into the socket when the solder starts to liquefy. Both ways are a delicate and drawn out process. It will likely be easier to just replace the motherboard in your computer. You don't necessarily have to replace it with an HP\Compaq motherboard. You could just replace it with an aftermarket board. Just be sure to find one that is right for your case.

Go into cmos setup and switch to the default video adapter from on board to the pci-e.

Im trying to watch movies on my tv from my pc but my tv dont have vga, dvi,and hdmi ports it only has rca and s video.and my pc only has vga. how can i get it to watch movies from my pc to tv.

You would need to get a video card with an S-video or composite output. The sound comes from your speaker output jack (you can get a 3.5 mm stereo to dual RCA audio plug adapter cable for this).

I have a compaq presario sr5410f and i went from vista to xp and i need drivers for the pci device, pci simple command controller, sm buss controller, video.

The best place to get these is either at or both have download areas where you can find and download the drivers you need. I'd recommend going to HP first.

I have a compac sr5410f and it it stuck on recovery manager.welcome to the recovery manager page and can not do anything.

if you have the resources, check the hard drive for consistency (i.e. take it out and have it checked for bad sectors). if it checks out good, with the computer turned off, take out the RAM (memory) and reseat it. One of these 2 solutions should fix your problem. GOOD LUCK!

Pentium 1.80 or pentium 2.8..I just recently got hired and I was told I need Pentium (4) 2.8 GHz or equivalent. I have Pentium 1.80 GHz (the numbers are confusing me once again)...thank you!

The Compaq Presario SR5410F has a dual core processor running at 1.80 GHZ
Dual core means that it is actually two processors running at that speed so you easily pass the Pentium 4 2.8 benchmark as shown in this table. the E2160 processor is not shown but the E2180 is close enough for you to get the idea compared with the lowly P4 2.8
