Newer machines don't require oiling. They are oiled (greased) at the factory. Just keep the bobbin area free of lint.

Be sure to oil your machine regularly. Use Fresh "good quality" sewing machine oil. Apply 1-2 drops of oil every place shown in the instruction manual (look for the little oil ports/holes). Do NOT oil rubber, plastic, leather, or belts.

Oil my machine

This really depends on the model of machine you have. Most new machines are self oiling, but some still require a drop of oil in the bobbin case. Your sewing machine manual should include a oiling diagram if your machine requires that the user oil their machine. You should be able to download a manual for your machine from the Janome website, even the retired models are there.

How To Oil Singer 3810 Sewing Machine - Oiling Diagram

Singer in their wisdom have taken that task away from the home user when they started going to plastic parts and such. You won't find schematics or adjusters manuals unless you get lucky and some sew-guy has made one up via his tinkering.

The only thing I can offer is. Oil where metal meets metal, Lightly grease where metal meets plastic or plastic meets plastic. (be sure to get the right kind of grease.)

How to oil old featherweight

Hi! I love the old Singer sewing machines!! Do you have the user's manual for your machine? The manual has great diagrams showing where to put oil and grease. If you don't, check out http://www.221parts.com/

In the meantime, look for little holes, often with raised edges and put a drop of oil in each. Put a drop of oil wherever metal moves against metal. You'll need to oil inside the head, on the right-hand side where the motor is located (DON'T oil the motor--use grease instead), and also underneath.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.
