    Hi,

One CD just has jpegs on it another one is some software we want to install. The drive has worked fine for the last 2-3 years. We are running XP 2nd edition.

The audio CD I put into the PC had it's own player. Not sure if this makes a difference.

The CD work fine on our laptop.

    Regards

    Hi,

I inserted a windows disk and audio CD (not burnt) and the drive reads them both. I have inserted a number of CD's that are burnt and the drive does not seem to read them?

is it possible that these were CD's you burned, without closing them? that only the laptop can read them, because the laptop did the burning?

can you try a standard game CD or other professionally produced CD instead?

I'd still recommend that you try a manufactured program CD in the drive that's having problems.

when you insert an audio CD, does it show up in my computer as an audio CD, or is it still listed as blank?

if your computer has a direct connection between the cd drive and the sound card, you MIGHT be able to play an audio CD, even though the operating system itself doesn't recgonize any cd's at all....

Have you tried to view data from a CD or a DVD disc?

Do you get an error message?

First thing to do is try some other CD disk, such as software. See if it reads that. It is possible that the cd of images you burned was burned on your laptop but the session was not closed therfor you wont be able to view it on any other computer. So lets try eleminate the possibility that the cd drive is bad by inserting some type of software cd.

You have to close the session before the CD will play in anything else but the PC that made it.

Burned digital videos from my computer on cd-r disk.when i try playing i get bad disk displayed. Retried on another disk got same result.

CD-R is mostly for data/MP3/audio and is not ideal for videos unless its a Video CD burned with the right software and the player accepts that format for playback.

Try using a single layer 4.7GB/120 minute/4-16X DVD-R instead for video. Your player probably does not allow CD-R as video but may allow it as MP3 data. Unless you have the original source video, or the discs contain raw data which can be read/used on a PC, throw them out.

Samsung dvd p145 no disk

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.

Wont play disc..what is wrong

Too vague of a questionbut here goes. 1. Check disc for scratches. Could be directory is corrupt. 2. Are you sure it is eitrher an Audio CD or a Video DVD? If it is a computer data CD it won't play. If it is a DVD Rom it won't play either.

WHENVER I PLAY AUDIO CD / VIDEO CD WITH DVD-FP580 DVD PLAYER, TV STARTS FLIKERING AND CD TRACK JUMPS AND DVD GOES OFF AUTOMATICALLY. I AM SURE MY TV IS O.K. BUT IT SEEMS THERE IS PROBLEM WITH DVD-FP580...

Ask for a repair man to check it. There is a problem on the circuit that the dvd player system detects and automatically shuts off to avoid further damage.

Dvd not playing dvds

Basic Information:

i) try to choose  right burner for eg: Nero CD/DVD Burner

ii) try to choose the right format,

for eg: MP3/MP4/ Audio Songs will come under Audio format
in such case select "Audio CD/DVD format" in Nero CD/DVD Burner

for eg: .DAT/MPEG/MP4/Video will come under Video format

in such case select "Video CD/DVD format" in Nero CD/DVD Burner

for eg: "DATA CD format" is only storing some data on CD/DVD iresspective whether it is                            Videofile or Audio file,

these "DATA CD formated" CD/DVD when played in DVD Player will play only Audio files
                but no Video Files

Samsung blue ray player loads dvd but goes to slideshow setting

We just figured this out. We had already tried to update the firmware through the blu-ray device itself directly from the website. For some reason, that was not successful. We had to download the latest firmware from the samsung site onto our computer and then burn it onto a CD. Then we used the CD to load into the blu-ray and updated it's firmware to handle some newer movies we had purchased. It now is able to play the problematic movies. The samsung site has instructions for doing this. Good luck.

DVD player repairing

Double-check your DVD player's user manual/spec sheet to see if it plays Mp3 format files at all. Find out, specifically what kind it can read.

If your Mp3 disc is a DATA CD instead of an AUDIO CD, then nothing besides a computer is going to play it.

Will Not Play CD-Rs Part Deux

Checked specs- YES -supposed to play MP3's. Did you try other MP3 Audio disks in the DVD? You can try the MP3 disk in your computer to make sure it is OK. If it plays in the computer, have to suspect a problem with the DVD unit - probably the converter IC.
