As soon as you boot up the laptop, press the F8 function several times and you will get a Windows menu where you can then select boot up in Safe Mode.

Wireless/keyboard/touchpad problems? Won't boot? A last resort when HP/Compaq/Acer won't repair a defective computer. Tape all vents to prevent air circulation. Wrap in a blanket several times, and let sit for an hour turned on (doesn't matter if it boots, as long as it generates heat). Unrwap, untape, and let cool for an hour turned off. Presto!

HP 6735s will not boot.

Remove the battery, place the laptop in a warm, dry and sunny spot for several days so it dries out completely. Replace the battery and see if the laptop boots up.
If not then the laptop maybe beyond repair, especially when water was spilt on the laptop when it was running. This could have caused some electronic components to short out.

My hp dv5215us laptop monitor broke several months ago. I've been using the computer with an external monitor plugged in to the vga port, but I turned it on today and the external monitor isn't...

Hardware failure of the motherboard - most likely something went wrong with the northbridge.
The repair will cost way more than it's worth, this laptop is effectively dead, time for a new one

Computer restarts by itself after the initial screen turns on

Windows is severely corrupted. Time to reinstall. If you have important files that you cannot lose then before reinstalling boot from a Linux Live-CD and copy the files to an external memory.

Laptop turns on, but won't boot up. Happened after son deleted limewire.

First of all, restore your system to previous state booting from the Safe Mode. To enter safe Mode, press F8 several times while the system boots up. You'll see a dark screen with white text. There you can select "Safe Mode" using you up-down keys and Hit Enter to select. After it is booted, restore, to do this, Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore and then select a date when it was working fine. If this doesn't work, please run a virus scan using an updated antivirus. You can also run a registry cleaning. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

HP ZE4427 will not boot

Try removing the battery and run the laptop with just the AC adapter. Sometimes this problem is caused by a bad battery drawing excessive current. If the problem continues, the system board is bad and needs to be replaced. The HP laptop I'm using right now had that problem TWICE during warranty. If yours is no longer in warranty, you may be able to find a replacement system board from several online sources. I've used Blue Raven Technologies (www.blueraven.com) several times for system boards with good results.

Lwhen laptop is turned on it only gives a blank screen.

Cold boot the PC by holding the power button for at least 5 seconds.

Hit F8 before the windows logo appears , select Last Known Good Congiuration. Try booting.

If same issue , try again , this time select safe mode , this should allow you to get in and undo any changes you made.
