Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

1 Answer

Conn. to go from COAXEL to I'm not sure what I need!!

I have a 42'' plasma wide screen but it came from one of the NYC area arenas.. It doesn't have the basic coaxel CABLE IN conn. on back. It has an array of twist n turn coaxel conns. and 3 ''Pin Type'' oval conns. I need a c'pling to go from the line in to whatever type of lead ( pin or coaxel) to get this TV to work!! And to which conn. does the other lead go to? It's a Panasonic Mod. # TH42PWD3U. There are 5 conns. (Twist n turns) that go from left -right,They are:

To the right of those are the pin conns. From left to rt. they are:
Can you help??

The diagram is an exact match and I do understand the conns. that I see here between the VCR box and the TV!! BUT, excuse me if I'm not seeing it or should know the answer to this question, but, where does the cable line coming in the window get hooked uo to?? Sorry if I'm making this more than it is??

  • sini427 May 14, 2010

I cmpletely understand!! After all the chasing and asking this person and that person asking etc etc. So it's just the cable in to the VCR box; make the S-Video conns. between those same 2 boxes then the Left & Right audio conns. Make sure the VCR is on CH. 3 and make the S-VIDEO change on the TV if necessary!! I believe I have it all down as you relayed it to me. You didn't have to rush thru dinner on my acct. I would have waited for some time for you because, finally, I knew I had someone who knew what I was asking about, and when I saw that diagram, JACKPOT!! I wish there was someway that i could notify you how things come out. I'm sure I can get a line to you thru this site!! If not, I want to sincerely thank you for your time and efforts in helping me, you don't know what a relief it is to almost be there and have this TV working!! Can't thank you enough!! Steve

To hook up the tv you will want to use the s-videos input on the back of the tv. To see how to hook up go to the link below and look on bottom of page 13.

I'm a bit confused, first let me say that I'm elated and full of gratitude that you responded so quickly, I am much obliged!! When I clicked on the address you sent, a blue screen came up and from top to bottom it displayed EXTRAS

On the bottom was what you would see on a You Tube video with the controls for stop; play; fast forward;reverse etc. It's what you would see basically on an VHS player. I had no idea where to go or what to do. Your reply said to sheck out the S-Video hookup on pg. 13, but I had no idea what to do. Sorry for any inconvenience!!

I'm having trouble getting the manual but you diagram is exactly correct!!! I understand the connections. S-Video cable from VCR box to S-VIDEO on the TV, Then the (L & R) audio cables between the same VCR and TV!! Please excuse if I'm missing something that I should be seeing or know, but where do I connect the Cable In line?? After doing that, the TV should work??

The cable in line goes to the vcr input. Then take from the s-video to the tv. You might have to have the vcr on chanel 3 so you get the tv feed. Sorry it toke solong to get back to you had to get dinner.

You will also need to change the input on the tv to s-video. To do that you just push the input botton on the pront of the tv to change it.

Broken plasma screen

You need your Tv product code wich is located in the back of the TV next to the serial number.
you can get one directly from LG ($500-$800) or you can try EBAY, look for a TV non working with a good panel, it doesn´t matter why is not working as long as the panel is in good condition, the price range is wide but you can get one for $150-$250.

And no you can not use any 42" plasma.

42" Panasonic Plasma - Vertical red stripe 6" from left side

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?
