Question about Samsung YP-T8 Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Samsung model yp-t8

I haven't used my mp3 player for quite some time. I recently decided to use it again. The problem I encountered is when I plug it up to be charged the screen doesn't come on saying charging. In fact the screen doesn't display anything. I left it plugged for a while thinking maybe it was extremely low considering it hasn't been used. After maybe an hour it still didn't come on but it was extremely hot to touch. I don't know if this matters but I was originally charging the unit with an ac wall charger that accompanied the unit at purchase. I somehow lost it. I am now for the first time trying to use the usb connection to the computer as an alternate power source. It was received with the unit at the time of purchase as well. I hope that the answer isn't that I have a damaged display. Becaused into the trash it will go.

I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. BUT if you should still have the power cables and want to sell them I can't find one anywhere for a YP T8Z. You may contact me at wharbison@ccboe.org with a price. Thanks for the consideration.

I can not get my yp-t8 to download to my pc my pc is xp home and the driver that ihave is win 98

Hello,

If the driver you mention is only for Win98, it is of no use in XP.

For the YP-T8 there are 3 model players, that might need different driver, software and firmware (under OS there's a listing for the supported Operating Systems).
Select your model on next page:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/search/supportSearchModelResult.do?menu=SP00&searchWord=ypt8&default_searchInputBox_value=Enter+model+number+or+keywords&searchInputBox=yp-t8
Next select the matching driver, software for your computer.
Download and install the driver and software.

Also look under firmware, to see if there are updates for the player.

How to paste a sme firmware download file to "ROOT" of my yp-t8

Ok you need to know exactly what model number player you are using as there are three versions of the YP-T8. * YP-T8A * YP-T8X * YP-T8Z Once you know that then you go to the samsung site and download the appropriate driver. Looks something like this: FM/200611/20061107201844343_YP_T8_ROM_20060609_138US.zip Once you do that you have to unzip or extract the file. Windows should do this automatically. According to the directions you then take the files that it unzips and put them on your mp3 player. So connect your mp3 player to the computer via that usb cable. It should show up as a Removable Device under My Computer. Find the files you just extracted. Should be YP_T8.fnt, YP-T8.rom and YP-T8.img You then simply copy those files into the mp3 player which is that new removable device drive. The root folder is the first area you see when you first explore the drive. i.e. any folder you see on that mp3 player when you double click on it is actually a sub-folder and not the root folder. So open it up and copy those files right there. After which you then do as the directions say. Unplug the mp3 player, power it off and then connect your charger. It says it will automatically upgrade the firmware and then automatically turn on so it should just be a waiting game at that point. Good luck!

Try to do it on a different computer. There are many reasons for this, the most common one is a problem and/or virus with the computer and/or mp3 player.
