Question about Kenmore 41142

Washer will not move to the next stage by itself. i have to manually move the knob and it works fine, but will just continue on that step of the wash or stop if i do not move the knob. what could this be?

Thank you for your help. Another detail that might be helpful is that it worked fine, but the drain hose got smashed and I thought that I could replace it in the back, but it was not attached on the outside of the machine. I ended up cutting the hose and just attaching a generic drain hose to the end with a clamp. It has been suggested to me that this may be the problem (it is creating some type of suction??). What would be the best course of action? The washer works well in all cycles, I just have to advance it manually. Thanks again.

Washer seems to be stuck on spin. Has slight oil/rubber burning smell. Will only advance out of spin if you manually turn the knob to the next step.

The timer is bad and needs to be replaced. if you continue to run it this way you will need to replace the motor coupling real soon. That is where the burning rubber smell coming from.

My Maytag Atlantis washer stopped working after moving?

maybe the hose came off the water level switch,,,just remove the screws in each end of the control panel,,some machines you have to remove the panel end caps to get to the screws,,,,then pull slightly forward and flip the panel back to access the level switch,,,,,,my hose came off 1 time and flooded the kitchen lol,,,,but air pressure coming through the clear plastic hose kicks off the water coming in and allows the timer to move forward to next cycle!

My maytag ensignia fills with water but stops after that. if you turn the knob to the next step, it will agitate but it wont go to the next step by itself.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that the Timer(part#7 in the picture) has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Also, check the Timer knob and if you hear a clicking sound then its certain that you need to replace the Timer as everything else seems to be working fine. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Stage slowly falls causing unfocus

Try holding the Right knob so it does not move, whilst firmly moving the Left knob towards you (clockwise), this is the adjusting method used on Zeiss Jena 1960's High End microscopes, e.g Eduaval & Ergaval.
Good luck,
