SOURCE: Won't Eject Tape

same problem, after you hit eject is pops out and never opens up, to the right of the "push" button is an arm with a spring, pushing it back will open that side, on the left side is a pin with an arm you can move the arm back the pin moves and the other side will open as well, wont fix the problem but will get you your tape back.  I have a very upset wife, we had a jvc mini DV went out one winter change in temp killed it instantly, now our canon has sat a few years and wont work either,  we bought a flip video, it works.

Perhaps this will help some. I realized that this problem occurs on my Canon Optura 30 (consumer mini DV) when the tape is fully rewound. Tapes that are not rewound seem to work fine. If this situation applies to you, try the following, and make sure that in the future you don't fully rewind your tapes! Fast forward your tape in a tape deck or rewinder. It should play in the camcorder now. If you don't have a machine to do it for you, you can manually advance the tape with a pointy object and a pencil (the eraser--or your pinky!). On the back of the tape, near the top (that is, opposite the side where the tape is exposed), locate the notch between the two spools (the "wheels"). The notch will have a spring-loaded slider inside, which you can hold open to free the spools. Otherwise they are locked in place and you can't turn them. Holding the slider open with your pointy object, insert the eraser in the right-hand spool (i.e., when the exposed tape is pointing down and the "spine" of the tape is pointing up). Turn the spool slowly counterclockwise, making a few complete turns, to gather up a short length of tape, enough so you have a few seconds' worth of timecode. Be careful not to leave any slack. You can turn the other spool a little bit (clockwise) to catch any slack; lift the cover on the exposed tape (by holding back the little release) to make sure it is tight. If you're not sure which spool to turn, it's the one that does *not* have a window on the front side of the tape. (If the tape is fully rewound, the spool in the window should look full.) Hope that helps, and good luck. In the future, I'll heed the common advice to use the camcorder playback as little as possible, relying on a tape deck for RW/FFand making sure to transfer material to scratch disks ASAP and then just storing that footage away in a shoebox!!!

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

Everytime i insert a cassette and close the compartment, the camcorder beeps and ejects the cassette with the tape strip pulled out.

This is usually caused by a defective component in the tape detection circuitry and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Cann't eject cassette from Canon ZR60

I had a similar problem last few days with my ZR60.
The problem I had was that the tape won't eject and on repeated attempts to eject it would eject as if it had a mind of its own.
I was messing with it a little bit and realized that the door was not opening fully. Being a delicate item I didn't realize that I was not fully opening the door may be because there was a little friction in the pivot pins or what ever.
Try to gently swing the door open fully and see if it helps.
Since I discovered this problem I tried 10-12 times, and every time it would eject the tape and load it.
I was almost going to give up this camcorder last night thank GOD, I am able to use it.
Good Luck to you.

Canon ZR60 Mini DV Digital, remove the cassete message

This is a tape transport problem and is expensive to fix. Unless you know a cheap tech, it's time for a new one. Be patient loading and unloading tapes. This is usually what causes this problem. The Yellow warning sticker is REALLY important. Another important item is to always use the same brand of tape because switching tapes causes a gummy build-up the makes tapes get caught in the machine.

Tape goes in but comes right back out.

If you can get a head cleaner in the machine during one of those tries, run it for 10 seconds and try a tape. If you know how to take the door off and how to clean a machine with head cleaner, I think this will solve your problem. Always use the same brand of tape. Each company has their own lubricant and mixing tapes will gumm up the insides and cause tapes eject problems.

Cannon ZR 60 camcoder Cassette copartment does not open

Loading unit problem is a common mechanical problem in camcorders. To remedy the problem, trained tech need to disassemble the mechanical system around the loading and replace few broken gears (plastics) and adjust it. Repair cost may run close to half of the new camcorder. If you really got to repair this camera for some sentimental reason or for special needs otherwise better to invest the repair charge into a new camcorder.
