Code e20 showing

This code is pertaining to a blocked drain. Check the drain hose for clogs and kinks then clear it. There is also a filter located inside the big black hose, the tub-to-pump hose, that runs from the bottom of the tub to the drain pump. It can be accessed through the bottom front panel and can be taken out for cleaning.

Remove the screws attaching the bottom front panel then
pull the panel down and off. Prop up the front bottom edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall to access the screws more easily. Loosen the clamp securing the tub-to-hose pump to the bottom of the tub then take the filter out and remove the debris. You should find foreign objects such as coins, toothpicks, hairpins and the likes blocking the filter. Clear the filter from foreign objects and inspect the pump impeller by turning it with your finger. The impeller may be restricted or damaged resulting in the water not pumped out properly. Replace the pump if the impeller is broken or restricted and doesn't turn freely. Reassemble the machine by following the steps above in reverse order.

The top ring of the filter MUST be seated
in the 3rd convolution from the bottom when installing the filter in the coin trap.

Can't find model no. Water isn't totally draining

There's a problem in the drain system. Either the drain hose is clogged/kinked, the drain filter is blocked, or the pump itself is not working. The model number of the machine is not specified and troubleshooting may not be accurate but it may work. The following solution is for a front-loading washing machine.

Check to make sure that the drain hose is not kinked/clogged then remove the screws attaching the bottom flange of the kick panel to the machine cabinet then pull the panel down and off. Once the panel is off, the drain pump assembly can now be accessed. Detach the pump's inlet and outlet hoses then check the hoses for clogs and the pump impeller for damage and blockage. The filter is usually located in the big black hose that runs from the bottom of the tub to the pump. Remove this hose from the tub and clear the filter for any debris that may prevent water from draining out completely.

The may need to be replaced if everything is clear but water still doesn't drain out completely. Verify this condition by putting the machine to drain then keenly observe how the pump sounds while draining. Check the pump wire connections if it doesn't sound running. Indicate the exact and complete model number of the machine, if possible, for us to be able to diagnose the problem accurately should need further help.

It doesn't drain out the water. Doesn't go through the cycle

hello,

  • Check the draining system for clogs and kinks. First, check the draining hose in back of the washing machine. In Whirlpool models, this hose easily becomes kinked and can block the flow of water. Check the lint filter for clogs. Finally, check the side-check valve, which is located at the tub outlet.
  • 2 Run the washer through a cycle with nothing in the tub. One of the common symptoms of a jammed Whirlpool motor is a nonrotating tub and a burned smell. The belt that powers the pump produces the smell. When the pump gets jammed, the belt begins to split off, causing friction and the burned smell. If you have these symptoms and find a damaged or broken belt, always replace the pump along with the belt. Otherwise, you will damage a new belt instead of fixing the problem.
  • 3 Check for objects in the drain tubes and pump. To get to the pump and hoses, manually drain the tub and unscrew the back panel. Detach the hoses with a wrench and feel inside them for debris. If you cannot find anything in the hoses, feel inside the pump inlets and outlets with piers and remove any debris

  • thanks

The cycle will stop and flash F02 several times during the cycle. It is not draining well.

The fault code indicates a draining problem and the display can be cleared by pressing the Pause/Cancel button twice. The problem is either a clogged/kinked drain hose, the pressure switch is stuck in the full position, or the pump itself is not working.

The pressure switch is stuck in the full position if the machine is completely drained when the error code flashes. It indicates that the pump is working and the drain hose is clear. Replace the pressure switch and it should address the problem. Remove the screws attaching the top panel to the rear of the machine then slide the panel rearward and off the cabinet.
    5f8e3dc.jpg

Either drain hose is clogged/kinked or the pump is not working if the machine is still full of water when the error code flashes. Make sure the drain hose is free from clogs and kinks and the pump impeller is not restricted.

Remove the three screws attaching the bottom flange of the lower front access panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. You can prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall to access and remove the screws more easily. Remove the pump filter and clear it from any debris.
    827f1ad.jpg

Turn the pump impeller with your finger to determine whether it is restricted or not. Replace the pump if the impeller is restricted even without a single debris blocking it.
    51fc88c.jpg

The drain hose is clogged/kinked if water does not gush out when drained manually by gravity into a basin or bucket. Blow air into the drain hose and you should determine if clogged or not. Also remove, check, and clear the tub-to-pump hose. It is the big black hose that connects the tub and the pump as the name suggests.

Check the resistance of the pump motor windings using a volt-ohmmeter. Disconnect the wire harness from the pump terminals then measure the resistance between the terminals with the volt-ohmmeter set to the lowest Ohm scale (R X 1). Nominal resistance of the pump winding is 10 ohms. Other than that, replace the pump.

Reconnect the wire harness if the resistance of the pump winding is good then recheck it at the wire harness connector in the central control unit (CCU). Replace the wire harness if there's any discrepancy in the resistance reading.
    d1b0b83.jpg

The last line of defense is the central control unit (CCU). It is apparent that the CCU is at fault if the drain pump winding and the wire harness are all good but the CCU fails to power up the pump. Consider replacing the CCU if that is the case.

GE top load washer will not advance to drain and spin

A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.

If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is not clicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the way down. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clicking sound, then the switch may need to be replaced.

Another possibility for a washing machine to not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power.

My washer will not pump out water or spin . it will fill, and aggitate. drain hose is not kinked

If your washer does not drain you need to check this parts.
    1. Inspect the drain hose for kinks
    2. Test the timer control
    3. Test the lid switch(some models)
    4. Inspect the water pump
    5. Inspect the drive belt(belt drive only)
    6. Inspect the motor coupler
If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess. If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

A E4 comes up water seems to be in bottom and there does not seem to be a drying mode...

E4 is overfill protection error . If that happens on drain, then it is a drain problem.

Try first tripping circuit breaker and dry water in the tub using a sponge.

Check the drain well and the filter.
Ensure drain hose at the back is not kinked.
Access pump hose , undo it and look for blockage.
Check the water level device. This is usually a float switch, on some model you also have a pressure switch.

FTW445ges2 Washer won't drain, buzzes during drain cycle

    Hi...

You need to check this parts.
Inspect the drain hose for kinks
    Test the timer control
    Test the lid switch(some models)
    Inspect the water pump
Inspect the driver belt(belt drive only)
    Inspect the motor coupler

It spins, but doesn't pump If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

It doesn't spin or pump If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:

    • If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

    • If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.
    Hope it will help you.

    Dwd-wd32ws will not drain

Some of the washing machine models have a small pump in the bottom that clogs with lint and stuff. When you disconnect the hose from the pump get ready for alot of water to come out. prevent this by kinking the hose somehow. This was a similar problem GE had with the washer we used to have in apartments. Good Luck. When you find out how to acess the pump the rest should be easy.
