Need too restore to factory

The HP Mini laptop comes with either the Windows 7 or Windows Vista operating system.
You can restore the HP Mini to its factory settings using the laptop's recovery partition.
Restoring the HP Mini to its original factory settings will get rid of hard to eliminate viruses on the laptop's hard drive.
A factory restoration is also a good way to get rid of older files still stored on the computer that you no longer need and start with a clean slate.

Windows Vista
Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your HP Mini Windows Vista home screen, then type "Recovery" into the Search box at the bottom of the Start menu. Click "Recovery Manager" in the list of options that appears above the Search box. The HP Recovery Manager will open. Click "Advanced Options" and then "System Recovery." Click "Next." Your HP Mini will restart. The HP Recovery Manager will open up automatically after the restart is complete. Click "System Recovery," and then click "Next." Click "No" if a message pops up on your screen asking if you want to use Microsoft System Restore. Select "Recover without backing up your files," and then click "Next." The restoration process begins. This could take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the of your hard drive and how much information you have stored on it. The HP Mini will restart when the laptop has been restored to its original factory settings, and you will be prompted to set up Windows Vista. Windows 7
Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of your HP Mini Windows 7 home screen. Click "All Programs" and then click "Recovery Manager." Click "Recovery Manager" again to open the HP Recovery Manager program. Click "System Recovery" from the list of options beneath the "I need help immediately" section on the left side of the program. The HP Mini will automatically restart and open the HP Recovery Manager. Click "System Restore," and then click "Next." Click "No" if a message pops up on your screen asking if you want to use Microsoft System Restore. Select "Recover without backing up your files," and then click "Next." The restoration process could take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the of your hard drive and how much information you have stored on it. The HP Mini will restart when the laptop has been restored to its original factory settings, and you will be prompted to set up Windows Vista.

How can I enable hibernation on my HP Mini 5101?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa, the world's largest product support community.

Generally all Windows OS has an option for sleep & hibernate.

Windows XP Users
  • Sleep Mode
By letting your computer idle for a period of time, i.e. not moving the mouse/touchpad, or not pressing any keys except when playing a video, the screen or desktop monitor will go dark. You can resume the computer by moving the mouse/touchpad or by pressing any key on the keyboard.
  • Hibernation or Standby mode
Click Start, click on Turn Off Computer, then click Stand By.

Windows VISTA/Windows 7 Users

To put Windows VISTA & Windows 7 in Sleep or in Hibernation, the steps basically the same. First click Start, then click the small arrow head located to the right of the Start Menu, then you click Sleep or Hibernate.

Hi, I would appreciate if you could help me to solve this issue: my hp mini 110 scroll function is not working. The touchpad works fine. But when I try to use the right edge of the it as a scrollwheel...

Hi arsmeo,

Welcome to FixYa! How are you doing?

You did not specify the exact model of your HP Mini 110.

Please try to reinstall the Touchpad Driver of your HP MIni 110 to reactivate the scroll function.

You can download the driver here:http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

Note: You need to select the exact model and the operating system (example: Windows 7 32 bit).

Hope that helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, I have a HP Mini 210-1170 netbook. After turning it on, the screen is at a desktop screen, but no tool bars nor icons are shown. The curser moves, so I don't think it's frozen... but I also don't...

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del - the Task Manager should pop up. Click File, click Run, type explorer , click OK and the icons and the taskbar should appear.

Have a hp mini 1000...i had a virus on it and i finally got that cleared off but now when i boot up the screen goes to the welcome screen then its just the blue hp slash screen...no desktop, task bar,icons,...

When it seems to have finished "booting up", press Ctrl-Shift-Esc to try to bring up the Task manager. If it allows you to do that, click the "New Process" button and enter "explorer.exe". If Windows is not damaged, this will give you back the Windows "shell" you are used to.

Laptop won't boot

This is caused by two files that are corrupt on your system. If you can get to another XP computer and get the following two files from the windowssystem32 folder and copy them to the same location on your hard drive. The easiest way is to connect your hard drive to the other computer as a slave and copy them.

The files are: userinit.exe and wsaupdater.exe

You can pull the HD out of the problem computer and put it in place of the CD on the working one to copy these files.

Also if they both have floppy drives, make a dos boot disk on the and copy the two files to the floppy. Boot from this floppy and copy the files to the c:windowssystem32 folder.

Hope this helps
